Night Elf Paladins. Why not?

Night Elf Paladins were teased even before Legion with “The Eternal Champion” a Highborn member of the Royal Guard, later we had Alynblaze and Delas and Nerus Moonfang.

Paladins don’t get their powers from their faith in the Light, but by their faith in their convictions, if you believe following the will of Elune is the right path with training you will be able to use the powers of Elune, as she seems to “bless” her followers just as the Light does. What that means is that even though the animations would be the classic “Lightly yellow” they would be the holy warriors of Elune, not the human conception of the Light, just like priests for Night Elves.

My point being, the Eternal Champion and Alynblaze being warrios with holy powers means that the practice of the “Holy Warriors of Elune” is not something new to the Kaldorei and with all the customization being available there is no reason to.

Besides, the Alliance options for male Paladins are… Bad.

I mean I’m all for more paladins at this point. They’ve already stretched what a traditional paladin is for cows and trolls. Hell orcs being converted would kinda make them fairly standard paladins if anything, just green (or brown in the case of the Mag’har). Surprised they didn’t drop the undead bomb yet since there’s numerous instances now of undead pallies running around. Nelf pallies are even less weird than any of that so they should be allowed.

Honestly a lot of race/class combos seem less weird nowadays. Once they let cows be pallies, it all kinda went out the window to me.

Indeed, the thing about Paladin is that for Humans and Blood Elves it was something born out of necessity, but then the rules got really loosened out, as you said, with the holy cows and the general explanation was “You believe what you are doing is right, then you’re blessed”. I mean, I really do believe the Zandalari get their powers from the Light due to their faith to their duty to Rezan and to Zandalar.

Because Blizzard said so.

No, I don’t think they ever said anything of the sorts. They simply ignored.

That’s them saying so.

Some would say but…the lore.

Which lore is this.

Pre bfa lore where we had a home?

Or post bfa where…we don’t.

Blood elves had no paladins until some human wrecked their place.

Be lore changed as story evolved. Night elves can do the same.

That is a good motivator, but then again, it’s not something new to them, they had Paladins through their history, they are just far in between.

Moonlight is just a reflection of the sun… You tell that to the Night Elves and they will skin you alive!

Has Blizzard actually explained the reason behind race-restricting classes?

Lore can change at the drop of a hat (see Blood Elves on the horde), so why not?
Honestly i think the main reason is the need to model a new paladin nightsaber mount, which is resource-costly.

If not for that, we’d have a few more paladin races for each faction.

Night elf paladins lost its chance the moment the night warrior stuff happened

Priestess of Elune are an elite organization that used both, Light of Elune and bows. They kind of had it always. Just with bows.

No reason for them not to be Elune Paladins.

I’d take plain old horse. Alliance is used to the same horse with a new texture for our “new” mounts in an expac.

At some point the will have every publisher printing coded shade of brown horse seems to be a goal for them.

No they lost its chance to be a night elf paladin

In legion it had tempting to lead them to be one

Then you got the night warrior stuff tyrande did and lost its chance since paladins aren’t about vengeance and bloodlust

Not exactly, Tyrande still uses the “Lightside of Elune” attacks after turning Night Warrior. We have no confirmation that the Dark Side of Elune is necessarily the void.

“I will sign no treaty until its written in the banshees blood!!”

That doesn’t sound like a paladin would do

I’ll only accept Night elf paladins if they were trained by Stormwind. We need some form of night elves that don’t become neutral.

Scarlet Crusade would like to have words with you. This is not DnD, Paladins don’t have to be good, they have to believe in the righteousness of their cause.

You are aware the Blood Knights exist, right?
