You can be honest. This was made at 3am this morning because you forgot to make it. That’s the only way I can conceive of something this poorly written and implemented being pushed into the game.
Between Maiev getting stuck, phases failing to work correctly, being jettisoned out of a cutscene into a barrage of near instant death, and not to mention the sheer lack of care given to the story itself. All it was, was rehashed stuff from Cata with a sprinkle of retcons. At this point I think Nightelves should get the Tauren and Troll treatment. To be wholly ignored by the writing team. At least they won’t get any worse that way.

Is it the darkshore armor? I would like to get that if so, maybe I should give those warfronts a whack now that I am level 140. I would also like a hide pants option because the kilt thing is fine but not something I want to be wearing.

They really didn’t know what to do with it, and it feels like it was thrown together in an afternoon.
The armor does look nice, but the quest was sincerely awful. They put more effort into the Undead one and it shows.

Was it that bad? I’m not surprised.

One of the writers really hates night elves
It has to be a personal thing at this point, cuz like mays well rename the race the Night L’s considering their track record

It is pretty clear the current team doesn’t have a clue about the Warcraft IP.

Y’all could not pay me enough to write a story about night elves because I know nobody would like it lol.

Well the disappointing thing is that the Human and Orc ones are great as far as heritage quests go. Blizzard set a high bar for themselves with them. I would say both the Human and Orc quests are easily 8/10s, maybe 9/10.
The Forsaken one is like a 6 or a 7. It’s pretty good. Not great. Better than previous heritage questlines but not by much.
Night elf one is sincerely, unironically a 3/10.

Can’t do worse than what Blizzard has done over the past… well, since WC3.
It’s so easy to get a win for Night elves, all they have to do is have the slightest inkling about what Night elf players want.
Even without them massacring Horde like many Night elf players want, there’s so much they could have done to explore Night elf culture, what it means for their culture to evolve (and not just men can have facial tattoos now except they always could, oops!) and to show the Night elven prowess against a neutral enemy.

Human heritage quest was just “We need to do better” while Orcs got a celebration of their race. Human was 3/10 at best. Forsaken, according to friends, was a blast and also a celebration of the race and history. The night elf one was just “We’re going to re-drama and plot from Cata to retcon stuff, btw you die a lot don’t you?”

The human one felt like an epic Classic quest. And it’s penultimate conflict where you fight a corrupt noble and use EMFH to get out of the stun is so kino, they reused it for the Forsaken one. And not to mention the ending when all the Stormwind guards salute you with their swords as you present your victory was incredibly heartwarming.
The Night elf one, you get dumped off back in the refugee slum and Maeiv says you’re Ama’shan which is super important or whatever.

Alright If I did a quest about night elves here’s what it would focus on:
-Just a big old quest chain scouting out a new home in the woods for nelves
include:
-Maiev as a cool character who is still ambiguously a political menace? Make her more spooky but still kind of a wildcard. Show her being a frienemy.
-Just a slice of life in the day of remaining druids of the claw, druids of lore and druids of the fang
-A slice of life in the day of a priestess of elune (not tyrande)
-A heart to heart with shandris and everything we the player have accompanied her with
-Some kind of reconciliation with night elf mages and nightbourne
-Thematically tie together the dangers of arcane and the balance of nature like the arcandor
-Bring worgen lore into it again since nelves basically are responsible for their existence
-just have a big old party where these subfactions at odds find some kind of hope going forward for the renewal of another world tree that they all have different political ideas for
-DEBATES ABOUT IMMORTALITY

Its better than the junk we’ve gotten so far.

Yeah people tend to not like content that is bad.
At this point no content would’ve been better. Unironically. No quest and just the set of armor being automatically given would’ve been an improvement.

You realize the content they get is rehashed, badly written, and as we’ve seen today, badly made. Most of the time it’s “You should forgive those that wronged you” which I find hilarious considering the legal troubles the company is going through.

i agree. they should stop giving night elves content so they dont have anything to complain about.
maybe being in the tauren corner for a few expansions will give some perspective.

Thats legitimately what I said in my original post. It would be better to have zero content than the content we get if that is the quality we should expect from them.

i’m glad we agree. stop making content for night elves.

The questline just wasn’t a heritage questline at all tbh.
I feel like the story was nice, but it would have been better suited as a side quest kinda thing? Im thinking similar to the Belf/Dark Iron quests from end of Shadowlands?
This quest didn’t really address anything for the race on a cultural level except the very last quest (which barely effects the race as a whole). I would have loved something that embraces Night Elf life post-Teldrassil and shows how the Night Elves are getting on in places like Hyjal, Valsharah, and Ashenvale. This quest was just so odd as a heritage quest…
