Night elf banner in the CoT

Oh my freaking god.

I just checked the PTR and when you go to get the Gilneas Heritage Quest from the NPC, the Worgen lady has this flag behind her… I just can’t. Screw you Blizzard.

You don’t think Vol’jin deserves any vengeance, huh? A warchief being one shot by a no name mob is way more insulting than losing a world stump and some prop npcs.

Ok let’s not get into a fight over calling dibs on Sylvanas.
Have all wronged parties use their combined powers to summon Captain Azeroth to kill her in the name of life and hope.

Certainly seems like it. They watched Thor: Ragnarok and decided that it would be cool if Gilneas were to be the WoW equivalent of the MCU’s Asgard.

Apparently, Gilneas is now in Stormwind, much like how in the MCU Asgard is now in Scandinavia.

By the way, one of Mia Greymane’s voiced lines is a reference to Thor: Ragnarok. She can be found in the cathedral in Stormwind IIRC.

The Stormwind crest on the Gilnean banner has sparked speculation concerning Tess Greymane. I’ve been speculating that Genn Greymane will die at the start of Shadowlands, which will potentially lead into Tess Greymane and Anduin Wrynn developing a relationship that culminates in marriage, thus a possible explanation for the new banners and flags for Gilneas with the Stormwind lion on them.

At least, it sounds exactly like something the devs would do. Why else would they change the Gilneas emblem to the Stormwind lion if they aren’t setting up Tess to be Anduin’s wife? They’re even starting to establish Tess as an idealist-to-a-fault much like Anduin.

I suppose there could be other reasons like Genn temporarily taking over the Alliance in Anduin’s absence, but they didn’t change the Forsaken flags when Sylvanas took over the Horde. They did do a Darkspear-themed tabard with the Horde symbol on it for Ashran, but again, they didn’t change the Darkspear symbol to the Horde one when Vol’jin was warchief.

So the change to the Gilneas banner is a suspicious one.

I do think there is some potential for fractures within the Alliance to form if Genn were to die and if Tess seems to abandon the dream of reclaiming the land of Gilneas in favor of re-establishing the Gilnean people within Stormwind, as well as if Tess’ apparent idealism clashes with Tyrande’s interests.

That wouldn’t really be a fracture as it would probably leave the Kaldorei on their own. Gilneas is their closest ally in the alliance. Seeing as how Mia almost died at Teldrassil and that she almost died on the journey to Teldrassil I can’t see Tess allowing to let the horde’s actions go completely unanswered. I don’t know anything about her “idealism” as I didn’t play a rogue in Legion nor do I have a worgen so I haven’t quested with her much. That said becuase of her presence in Darkshore and history with the Horde’s crimes, I get the feeling that she wouldn’t be so eger to side with Anduin that quickly.

Not to mention their patron wild god prefers favoring Stormwindian humans to them.

This irritated me. Screw Varian and that BS with him being Goldrinn’s chosen. It completely took away from the Worgen identity all because Blizzard has a hard on for the Wyrnn family.

Also, it seems the banner has been replaced in the Darkshore Warfront with the new one:

That was ridiculous.

Apparently Genn needed Varian to give his people legitimacy. At least there is only 1 Wrynn left and he didn’t seem very keen on changing that any time soon.

Well, we know he lives a loooong loooong life. We see him really old in that comic where he is next to Velen. Let’s hope the peaceful bast@rd doesn’t reproduce. I don’t want another Anduin in my life.

I do find it odd the night elves seem to be adopting their Pre-Sundering Empire banner again. They seemed pretty determined to leave that legacy behind, I wonder what led them to adopt it again.

It is a nice banner though, I always thought the tree was a dumb symbol. I personally liked the owl and moon banner more, but this is a nice one as well.

Crazy theory, the flag was Chang because Blizzard is planning on villain batting Tyrande, and Azshara will get redemption and be reverted back to her Night Elven form and she will become the leader again.

Please no. No modern Night Elf in their right mind would follow the person who almost handed Azeroth to the Legion on a silver platter.

I agree, but this is Blizzard we are talking about it here.
