Hello all,
I have a challenge set for myself for the next little while. I want to take a class/spec to its limits in soloing capabilities. By this I mean, current content (M+) as well as Shadowlands raids. But, the catch is to do it on a class/spec that isn’t really in the “scene” if that makes sense. This eliminates things like ProtPala/DK/DH/Hunt/Lock for example. Pretty much all tanks if we’re being honest.
Got the idea from seeing an Arcane mage Soloing some mythic Shadowlands raids (ones doable without mechanics that make it impossible as it stands). I also use to keep up with the scene with people like Mionelol, Caribald, Raegwyn. So I wanted to get back into it.
My question is outside of the obvious choices what are some specs that you think are capable of going further then others. I use to think mages weren’t capable but seeing the mage, Araitik, solo gave me a new hope that maybe some are capable now of doing more. Obviously a Veng DH will be king, I mean they solo M+10-15s current content sometimes so I know I wont get there but want to take a more niche look at it and go from there.
Any advice or suggestions much appreciated. I like most all classes and playstyles honestly so everything is on the table outside of the kings/queens such as tanks/hunters/locks.
Well since tank and pet classes are off the table that narrows it down alot but if you want my honest opinion for soloing.
You cant get much better than ret paladin lots of heals and bubbles basically give you 3 lives
Thanks for the input. Taking out mostly pet classes and tanks because I wanted an extra challenge I guess and to kinda make it a bit more niche I suppose. Ret does seem nice for those reasons for sure. Will put it on the list of potentials for sure.
I’ve been narrowing it down some and got it to things as such
Ret Paladin (in the lead)
More niche choices
Disc Priest, feel like Atonement is a good mechanic since keeping it up on 1 target would be easy and the dmg is straight heals. I understand its cloth and not a lot of defensives but plays into the niche aspect and seeing how far you could take it. Could also do some shadow since their off-heals seem decent, gets an interrupt but sadly the off-heals are on cd.
Fury Warrior, again same kinda aspect as Shadow priest but their off-heals are solo heals where Shadow has some good group off-heals but ill be doing a lot of content (mostly all, except for getting gear really) solo so that’s fine. Comes with more defensives then the Priest.
Rogue (any of three), downside is the self heals, bonus is the defensives are kinda nice and a cheat death which could be nice.
Mulling around the ideas, obviously like I said going a tank or pet class would be ideal if I wanted to go the absolute furthest possible on any class but id like to have fun with niche classes more so. Could do 2 classes time permitting. So if thats the case Ret for sure, then a niche one ontop.
i agree with rogue, i only dabbled with it in early s1 but feint was silly goofy strong and their self healing (mostly through passives) werent bad but i know the tree has been shuffled and changed a bit since then
disc you certainly could do but it will take you quite a while to kill things, as opposed to a pure dps. probably comparable to a tank? ive not really done much soloing with my disc but in non solo situations thats the impression i get
ret and fury sound good but dont have much xp with those options
