Nice Priest Changes!

  • Cure Disease: Can now be cast in Shadowform.
  • Abolish Disease: Can now be cast in Shadowform.
  • Shadow Word: Death: Its backlash deals 30% of your maximum health instead of 10%.
  • Binding Heal: Leaves the talent tree: trainers teach rank 1 at level 25 (236 to 284, 155 Mana), and ranks 2 to 6 as before.
  • Holy Bindingnew talent: New talent in row 4, where Binding Heal was: when your Flash Heal heals someone else, you are healed for 50% as much. Not yet translated in the game.
  • Renewed Hope: Its tooltip no longer names Binding Heal.

I don’t understand the point of holy binding talent now that binding heal is baseline.

if you need to heal someone else and yourself you will always use binding heal it’s the same mana as flash heal and better than holy binding in every way if you need to heal yourself and someone else.

Maybe now you can alternate between the two in that situation to trigger litany of light. Otherwise spamming binding heal won’t give you mana back.

sw:d now does more damage to a priest in Forever than it did in tbc

Not true. It did up to 664 damage minus your spell power and crit. With bonuses it would do well over 30% of your health bar. Even kill you.

logs exist. for non-crits it did ~25%

Forgive me if miss-reading this but doesn’t the priest have the shadow resist buff? Which would drastically change the effect?

shadow resist doesn’t effect the damage received from sw:d

Why am I blasting myself for 30% of the damage dealt? Isn’t 30% a bit much? 15-20%, sure but 30%?

Yeah 30% is ridiculous for how little damage it actually deals. If it’s designed to be an execute spell then it needs to do way more damage. A mage fireblast does the same damage. Losing 30% of your hp in PvP is so bad It’s probably too risky to use it.

I mean that’s also a double edged sword buffing the damage, if you crit yourself you’re going to explode.

There is zero chance SWD stays like this. If it punished you this hard, players would begin to anticipate and deliberately counter with a shield/barrier, ice block, divine shield, shadow potion, grounding totem, etc, and it would be absolutely devastating to the point that you might hardly ever use it in PvP. And killing yourself from SWD will become a meme. No longer worth the risk, especially considering how little damage it does.
