Don’t know, from what I’ve seen there’s a lot to do. What I worry about is the open world being too open honestly.
Another thing is Bobby didn’t really create anything in WoW. Rowling created this whole world with her views behind it. So as someone that worked on WoW stories in my head since Wrath, its easier to ignore Bobby compared to Rowling. If that makes any sense
Thing is, Rowling of yesteryear who created Harry Potter literally feels like a different person. Why I say this? Because the world she created is all about inclusive unless you’re a muggle. You had polyjuice potions and other ways to change your gender, racism isn’t really a thing in the wizard world unless you can’t use magic and it feels like a lived in world.
Harry Potter world does not share the views of hers of today, which really started around 2016 or something. That is when people really got crazy on twitter and that has rotted her brain like many many people.
So I can divorce the world she created from the Person she is now. It’s like Orson Scott Card who was very liberal when he wrote Ender’s game to the Orscon Scott Card of now who is just nuts.
The way I generally handle refusing to buy products due to principle is by asking myself whether I disagree with the product or if I disagree with the artist. If the product espouses values I find abhorrent, then I won’t buy it. But if I stopped myself from buying every video game that was made by someone who holds views I disagree with, I would never play another video game again - including WoW.
Hogwarts Legacy was not even written by JKR though, let alone her putting her social views into the story the story isn’t even influenced by those views. So I’m willing to buy the game.
Hmm. Guess I’ll have to find a different gameplay vid. The latest official one just showed a lot of flying, lol.
Combat did look good though. I was worried at first because they talked about Avada Kedavra actually one-shotting things, but it appears this is just a single player game in an open world where others exist?
Eh. I disagree somewhat but not like in a “Omg ur so dumb. I’m right, stop talking” manner.
Bit cheesy to quote a tv show here but
“You know, it’s funny, when you look at someone through rose colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags.”
I would, and others, would not have made that statement if you and Rosen didn’t come in here spouting that you weren’t buying BECAUSE of JK Rowling. You and Rosen derailed and did so maliciously. You KNEW it would turn into this when you made your post.
You could have just muted the topic and moved on. No one asked for your view on JK. The topic was that the game looked great.
You are clearly a child that can not control their emotions, especially online.
If I do end up getting the game, I tend to play Slytherin or Gryffindor solely because that’s what the Pottermore tests would always flipflop on putting me in every time I took them.
I’m not smart enough for Ravenclaw, even though they have the best school colors.
Thing is, I am not looking at it through rose tinted glasses, you can actually tell when the Artists starts to change their world views because of the conflicts from their old works. That is basically harry potter to her newer works, her writing style changed for the worse because of her views.
Represent. I’m planning on Slytherin.
Can you believe that I actually know someone who’s planning on picking Hufflepuff intentionally? (Don’t tell her that I’m envious of her common room.)
Just single player, there is no online happening. But yeah, Avada Kedavra can one shot but it has a long cool down. But with the right build and potion making, you might make it shorter. We will just have to wait and see
I can see where you’re coming from. I disagree, but I understand you.
I find this interesting on the forums for this game, which requires you to give them your money to reply to.
What makes JK worse than Blizzard higher ups?
Each their own. I love Ender’s game and it is very anti-war in the writing even though it is all about children playing war until it isn’t.
Vastly different world view from the author now. Can’t say you didn’t see the red flags before because there wasn’t any. People do change, sometimes for the worse.
I don’t knock the badgers! They’re swell people, and have the coziest common room and the best access point into it, right by the kitchens! Imagine being able to just go out in the morning and grab a delicious breakfast, without having to traverse the giant maze that is Hogwarts.
I have several friends of the lgbt community that are buying it because they’re huge HP fans… lol I think the hate is from a select few.
Folks don’t bring up harry potter these days with good intentions. Pretty easy to spot
This is also just likely a result of some of my brains wiring. Eh whole other topic. Nice chat at least
No lie, when I saw the hufflepuff room I was like “Man, now I really want to be part of this” even though I’m all into the dark arts. Hence Warlock
Because they try to paint everything about Harry Potter as evil, even though it was praised constantly for being so good not that long ago. See how they say that Goblins are jews? Because she made them bankers? I’m playing a Goblin in wow…guess what they do in wow? Is it racist now?
People want JK rowling to be cancelled so badly that they go back and retcon what her previous works said to make themselves feel better.
A lot of the complaints I see for Harry Potter to me is just a lot of online people trying to find issues or make up issues for the novels just to fit her current world views. like saying “See, she was always like this!” when it was obviously not.
I’m not even into the dark arts (in the HP world, anyway), but I apparently just fit in with Slytherin types. Which, to be fair - Slytherin isn’t so different from Gryffindor, when it comes down to it. And not all Slytherins are evil, either; house gets a bad rep because most of the bad people in the world came from it, but the house itself isn’t evil nor meant to be used for evil, at its core.
Gryffindor and Slytherin are only “good” and “evil” because of the people who graduated from it. And also because clearly we can’t have the main character’s house be Evil, that would be terrible! /s
