@Blizzard
Any chance we could get the ability to disenchant current epics into Nexus Crystals? Freeing up the bank slots would be nice.
I think it would be better if all pre-Naxx patch epics DEd into large brilliants regardless. I think it’ll be a shame if everyone has loads of nexus crystals the day Naxx opens.

You are aware that the enchanting recipes that use Nexus Crystals came out with AQ?
So let epics start making them at that time then.
Except we know they’re coming and it’s a huge waste to DE them all into shards when they will be disenchantable into crystals later. People saved up epics to DE back then, too, when Nexus Crystals were announced. I’m sure I’m not the only one who is holding onto epics to DE at this point.
No - you misunderstand. What I think is that the current epics should all be essentially different objects that even after AQ will still only be large brilliants.
That isn’t how it worked. People even saved up blues to DE into Nexus Crystals for that 1% chance, and it worked. They’re not “different objects”.
Yeah, I know – but they can easily make them into different IDs so that a pre-AQ thunderstrike will always DE into large brills and a post-AQ thuderstrike will always DE into a nexus.
There’s going to be an absolute tital wave of nexus crystals otherwise, a lot more than the ones people saved up when NCs were announced in the patch notes.
You are suggesting that they unnecessarily shoehorn some kind of code into the disenchanting algorithm that checks the item age before generating the drop table. That’s far beyond the scope of what I’m asking and a different issue entirely.
that code already exists in wow and will be used for nexus crystals in classic. you’re hoarding noob epics for no reason. also. stop re-posting the same thread.
Oh, you’ve seen the code? Can you show me?
It wouldn’t be about age – the items would just have a different vnum or whatever the MMO equivalent is. It would look the same and have the same stats, but for all intents and purposes it would be a different item.
wow classic uses a modified version of the retail wow codebase.
this is from the retail wow code base:
wow dot gamepedia dot com/Titan_Residuum
In order for Azerite armor items to yield Titan Residuum, the following requirements must be met:
* The item must have been obtained during or after [patch 8.1.0]
the tech already exist.
So, now, instead of simply checking the (presumably) already there timestamp for when the item was generated, you want to retrofit all existing items to have different “versions”? That’s cute.
The code existing or not wasn’t the point, I never said it was impossible, it’s just bad practice to inflate the item database by adding another column to it when this guy’s desired outcome is easily attainable by just checking when the item was generated.
and as many others have said, it would be even worse “bad practice” for blizzard to allow people to hoard up 100s of nexus crystals, devaluing them to nothing, before they are even suppose to be in game. they are obviously going to use this tech to make prior epics not DE into nexus crystals.
Why is it obvious? Where have they talked about this, at all? You’re making a big assumption and not backing it up.
If anything, a more accurate assumption would be to think that any epic that could eventually be able to generate a Nexus Crystal, will at some point, because that’s how it ACTUALLY worked back in the vanilla game.
