Ny’alotha is referred to as the sleeping realm/ nightmare realm. The book stormrage has a part where malfurion stopped the apocalypse of everyone falling asleep and in legion it was briefly touched on with emerald nightmare.
Death is an endless sleep. N’zoth is based off( Cthulhu and he is leader in a dreamlands universe) in the game it has been stated N’zoth is dreaming or sleeping beneath the waves and he was never actually asleep, he was actively bending minds. But as a leader of the mind flayers, also has connections to the dream and nightmare realms (we see the nightmare realm in Emerald nightmare and again in EP 2nd to last boss. IF we won’t do another time travel xpac again then we can witness the black empire in the dream realm, he even showed this to azshara in the video where he turned her into a naga.)
further hints are the sylverian dreamer mount, also the blizzcon 2019,windigo yeti PJs. Dreamlands are also filled with moonbeasts and both legion and BFA heavily forshadow elune will be seen soon. No one knows what she really is or what she looks like also whether there is anything living on the moon elune. The dreamlands would be an awesome xpac with some trippy looking zones!
dreamlands xpac can include dragon isles outside the dream realm also there can be hub cities in the dreamlands + finally player housing real true player housing customizable inside and out, enter the dreamlands thru ur house/bed as well as the officially way of getting there.

That would be awesome, can only imagine what those zones can look like, environment team would need to be high in order to get some creative zones there lol maybe next xpac sylvannas will have the Necronomicon (h.p. lovecraft made it up NOT “evil dead”)

I would LOVE a World of Lovecraft
but I don’t want to get my hopes up, because that leaves me vulnerable for disappointment
so, I’ll expect the next best thing (dumb stuff involving Shadowlands and “Death with a capitol D”

holinka the dev tht hyped blizzcon and a possible new class since hes the lead combat designer, keeps currently posting about odyssey and greek mythology now, Ion in a Q&A also went off topic talking about his village in Greece and the mythology of greek and also the shadowlands leak states the shadowlands is based off hades and has the river of souls and all the ocean there is souls and the architecture is ancient greek based.

As much as I wanna just make an easy joke about rolling a big, pink guy and eating everything…
I’d love some more abstract zones. My favorite part of BC was all the floating islands, the massive lightshows in the sky, the entire zone of glowing mushrooms … Since then, we’ve had mostly, pretty grounded areas to explore. Which is totally fine, but it does kinda hamper Blizzard’s creativity.

Old gods speak in riddles and half truths. “Dreaming” to them, is likely a form of recovery, similiar to demons.
I’m willing to be we’ll find C’thun, Yogg, and Y’shaarj in Nya’lotha.
