Next Expansion, where do you think we will be going?

The map is getting very crowded, I’m not sure how many more locations they can squeeze in to it before the oceans disappear, the continents do this magical shift/decrease and you can actually swim from one to the other.

So next expac, if we assume it won’t be a place suddenly appearing where it really shouldn’t fit, where could we be sent?

My list includes:

  1. Back of the planet. If what we are seeing is only the front, there is no reason there couldn’t be something on the back. It’s been said, I believe, that ships that have tried to sail either west from Kalimdor or east from Eastern have never returned. Sooo…perhaps the people on those ships ended up somewhere that did not permit return to the rest of the world?

  2. Underneath Azeroth. We know that back in Wrath there was a planned area beneath Northrend, so presumably there is at least one (or more) subsurface areas, particularly since the Old Gods were send somewhere below.

  3. Emerald Dream/Nightmare. I think of this as a sort of alternate reality, and I guess its possible we could go there, though its on my unlikely list.

  4. The past. We could end up doing another time travel, especially if the Black Empire thing happened. Perhaps in order to forestall the total destruction of Azeroth, we are sent back in time to stop the rise of the Black Empire. Personally I could really do without another dark expansion.

  5. Another planet. Orcs in Space! We have the gnomes, goblins and spaceship technology and we certainly know there are other worlds out there. We have even seen or had glimpses of other worlds. So that’s a definite maybe.

So those are my thoughts - which do you think or would like to see, or are there other options?

Alternative Azeroth, 30 years in the past. N’zoth wins at end of BfA, the planet is lost, so Chromie uses her last breath to send us there.

No First, Second Wars…No Alliance or Horde…

Some want to take this opportunity to prevent problems we caused in our own time, some will refuse to give up old hatreds or will attempt to re-forge alliances.

Meanwhile, Medivh of this new world is confused and lost. The spark of Sargeras in his soul has become untethered…fractured. It seeks a connection that no longer exists.

But something in the Twisting Nether has heard his desperate pleas…

Pretty sure we’ll be asking for half the classic servers to progress into TBC servers.

I’m actually a bit intrigued by the Underground notion (Dark Iron notwithstanding :laughing:) It could explain why we didn’t know about it before, and could also allow us to get up close & personal with Azeroth the bebe as well as the old gods.

Also, since the red dashed line denoting sea travel on the world map seems to always show us traversing instead of circumnavigating, one could somewhat logically conclude that there is an entire backside to the planet waiting to be found. This could contain entire undiscovered continents on it.

As a third option, if bebe Azeroth gets extremely testy, there’s no reason that new land masses couldn’t appear literally from nowhere.

I like the concept of there being layers of existence that we experience, like the spirit realm when we die or the emerald dream.

9.0: World of Warcraft: War of the Ancients. Players are sent back in time to experience the War of the Ancients. Blizzard did it with Draenor, why not Azeroth 10k years ago? The timeline is forever altered, allowing Blizzard to make WoW 2.
