My opinion
I have grown tired of getting 4 new zones + a random patch zone
I feel like we have no impact on the world itself. I would love to see us revisit the entire WoW map again. Here are some ideas
- We return to the zones where our characters were created to help save them from something.
- We utilize the expansion zones again. So maybe this is the garrison or class order halls etc. It would allow new players to visit the places they missed and older players to feel like the time there mattered
- You have PVP specific world content where we fight the other faction in some of these old zones. You could rotate the battle between expansions every few hours, like an assault or invasion
- You have old areas drop gear with new stats on it so it gives some reason to revisit.
Kind of like timewalking but you make it current and up all the time. You could modify the bosses with new abilities gear etc
- You have world bosses that are up in EACH expansion simultaneously

I think revisiting Azeroth (and not some random new island on Azeroth) is a sentiment that’s been gaining a fair amount of steam lately. I’m down for it.
Blizzard would have to find a way to make it work well though. We can’t just sprint through every zone and still have a coherent structure to the game or story. But if something’s going down that’s stemming from say, Old Dalaran, and the surrounding handful of zones become plot relevant for the patch/expansion? That’s totally doable. Hopefully with some amount of touching up visually, but if not, oh well.
Doesn’t have to be that, just a random example.

I would like to see new zones added to the old world but DO NOT alter the old content in any way. I think the old content needs to be preserved.
While this sounds good I really get annoyed at having two Dalaran’s, and having to go back and forth from old area (IE: Undercity) to new day
Would be great if the next expansion would drop any form of pathfinder and let us fly at the start.
This kind of idea is what I’d really like to see. I’d play the hell out of it. Maybe even fix up all the old busted up world areas cough valley of the four winds cough
I remember saying they should revisit the old world and some people were calling me all sorts of stuff lol - ultimately some will say it’s lazy but me, I feel them utilizing the world itself and not just ''here are 3.5 zones … no flying for a year ‘’ is getting boring.
Breathe a little life into the world. Give us a zone but update the old stuff and bring us down a peg so we are adventurers of azeroth, not champions or some non sense constantly.
Need to find a way to inject that awe and mystery back into the open world.

I don’t even care if it is a cosmic threat; I think they can be done well. Just make it take place on Azeroth. I don’t care about the Shadowlands at all, I care about the world I have grown up with for the past 16 years.
They gave us a way to visit old zones with Darnasus and U.C. in BfA.
Bring us back to Azeroth make the old zones be phased for players doing the newest content to have different quests then the people at the levels below the new expansion .
THey can make capital cities like Org and SW be neutral areas where once in the gate all players are in the same phase . There can be a copy of Zidormi inside the entrances of SW and org that if a player doing the new expac stuff in the old zones wants to go to the old version of a zone/s they can talk to her and will stay in said phase until they talk to her again .
It is certainly an incentive to visually tidy up the older world. Actually finish Silvermoon, for example…
Something like the effects of Cataclysm, but a little more profound.
It would give them a way to have a new threat based in older zones without affecting the playability of the game for people still leveling below the new expansion level range .
We get to go back to Azeroth take on the new threat in the lands that matter to us and lowbies don’t get ganked by new high level npcs .
