Humans-Kul’tiran Humans
Dwarves-Dark Iron Dwarves
Night Elves-Nightborne
Draenei-Lightforged Draenei
Orcs-Mag’har Orcs
Trolls-Zandalari
Tauren-Highmountain Tauren
Blood Elves-Void Elves
All that’s left is Gnomes, Worgen, Undead, and Goblins.
Gnomes
Junker Gnomes: I’m them this to distinct them from our friends in Northrend. They seem the most likely, because of how much work went into their design and how important they’ll be soon.
Mechagnomes: Less likely but still possible. The robotic creations of the Titans are the direct ancestors of Gnomes who got the Curse of the Flesh.
Worgen
Pack Worgen: The Night Elves who were a part of the Druid of the Scythe were the first Worgen and they’d be pretty cool to add. The problem of them all being Druids can be alleviated by clarifying that most were bitten by the original Druids during the War of the Ancients.
Undead
San’layn: I know, I know. “No more elves.” Maybe by giving them more dead qualities they could be separated a little bit more. They’re also pretty much the only group of Undead that Sylvanas hasn’t officially made her “allies” yet.
Skeletons: Weird idea, I know, Maybe if Necromancers came up with a ritual to restore sentience to skeletons we could play as the perennial fantasy enemy.
Goblins
Gilblins: The most likely choice for Goblins. A failed experiment on Goblins, we’ll be meeting these aquatic Goblins in Nazjatar.
Honestly the list of things that would actually make sense (gives side-eye to void elves >_> ) as allied races for the Alliance is pretty thin, unless they just make crap up out of thin air again (void elves). I don’t care what the insecure blood elf haters say (and I say this as a gal who primarily plays undead and blood elves Horde-side), high elves should’ve been the allied race and not ‘void elves’ (which, like LF Draenei are not actually a race…if they have kids I’m pretty sure those kids will be normal draenei or elves, unless blizzard says the light/void influence becomes genetic once someone is so altered…but I doubt it, since they did confirm that if two worgen have children the child isn’t worgen). The identical model argument went out the window when they added pandaren, and in full armor you can’t tell the difference between blood and void elves anyway. If you’re a die-hard “I only play Horde!” player you’d stay Horde even if high elves are ever added in a future expansion (and believe me, if Blizzard becomes desperate enough for a guaranteed cash grab in the form of race changes that would be a juicy one they’re probably holding on to for when it’s needed…else the official answer on high elves would’ve been a flat no and not “anything’s possible in the future but for NOW no immediate plans”).
Junker gnomes I’m sure are coming (blech at another gnome, but hey, different strokes for different folks and if you enjoy playing gnomes more power to you). Honestly junker gnomes are probably the Alliance counterpart to Horde’s vulpera (both are short, ‘cutesy’ races).
The undead variant(s) honestly I think Horde should get San’layn and Alliance should get the ‘Redeemed’ or whatever you want to call light-infused undead since Calia is more than likely coming in the in-game story since she’s already been mentioned.
Night elf worgen? I guess…but it would just be a normal night elf that turns into a worgen. It’s lazy so Blizz would probably go for it >_>
Other than that? Ogres for Horde (All they’d need to do is take the kul tiran model and make it even uglier) makes sense and should’ve been there already. Wildhammer dwarves in lore are supposed to be taller and leaner than Ironforge/Dark Iron dwarves so that and the tattoos/different hairstyles could differentiate them looks-wise. Also forest trolls are already part of the Horde and they’re bigger and bulkier than jungle trolls.
In no proper order, Gilblins, Ogres, and Vulpera for Horde (although Vulpera use the Goblin frame if I recall, so it might be Vulpera or Gilblins).
Mechagnomes for Alliance and perhaps Jinyu too. Fun fact: Jinyu are actually Murlocs who lived near the Vale of Eternal Blossoms and evolved due to its magical properties. Players have wanted playable Murlocs and Naga for some time… Jinyu could be a lore appropriate compromise.
The only wishful thinking I’ve had for many years and I’m sadly accepting will never happen is Ethereals. I don’t care if they don’t want to involve themselves with mortal races. I just want an ethereal rogue and mage.
I suspect ethereals will make a recurrence in the future with a Void focused expansion. They are a natural ally, already have established lore including their homeworld K’aresh, etc. Maybe another neutral race.
I’d prefer playing as a San’layn over some skeleton, like Ainz ool gown from Overlord. ugh… technically Undead are already that. No point in making it worse.
Naturally I’m a gigantic fan of San’layn and want them in. I think skeletons would be cool too, though. The way this could be done is you could have Horde skeletons available to play. This could also work as a customization option as well, of course, for the forsaken.
But maybe you could have different color bones, like yellowed, red (bloody), black(charred), and white(pristine). I think something like a better Night Warrior quest for forsaken to unlock a ‘bones’ or ‘skeleton’ look would be cool.
Another undead option could be undead Vrykul, or ghosts. I don’t know how armor would work on ghosts, though. My hat is in with the vampyr of course, but the amount of options is always so much fun to talk about.
Aren’t Vulpera all but confirmed as an Allied Race, as are the Junker Gnomes? The Junker Gnomes have their own unique emote animations, and you can read about the Vulpera evidence on Wowhead.
I’d link to the Wowhead page, but the forums aren’t letting me. Just google “wow vulpera cutscene code wowhead”.
