Thank you Blizzard for this experience buff! Now I can level a lot of characters to level 120 (like I have this alt who was sitting around level 70’s a couple days ago!) and have many options for going into Shadowlands with maybe a new main (If I can make up my mind on one!).
All the articles I’m reading keep referring to this as a double exp buff. Just to be clear, its not actually doubling anything but the base exp, right? So its not actually multiplicative with base +xp items, its additive.
Is it:
(Base exp*xp modifiers)*2
or is it
(base exp*xpmodifiers+100)
Its a fairly substantial difference. Full set of standard heirlooms gives +50%. Using that number, and an example of a mob that gives 1000xp per kill, unmodified.
3,000xp = (1000 * 1.5) * 2 <-- multiplicative
or
2,500xp = (1000 * 1.5) <— additive
I would rather have the real double xp multiplicative version. But is its additive, and I’m sure it is, because Blizzard, I suppose it is better than nothing. Wish people wouldn’t call it double xp, though. That said, “double xp” is easier to get across and type than “double unmodified base xp that doesn’t change the percentages granted by other +xp items and is added on like every other exp modifier in the game”…
Edit: After some experimenting, I can confirm its additive, not multiplicative. So not a true double xp buff.
I am a bit confused. Don’t you get 100% of your earned experience anyway?
And 100% experience for doing what?
basically think of it as this
you’re doing 2 quests in only 1 go.
or 2 WoD bonus quests in 1 go.

The game just became fun again because I’m chain running dungeons and getting decent xp, like it should have always been

In terms of experience can does someone have knowledge of how much experience you would get. It says 100% exp. Does that mean before the buff you would get say 300 xp, now you get 600 xp?

weird, but i don’t get any xp at all unless I’m leveling a battle pet.
i went in and cleared 4 dungeons on my lvl 110 character, and no xp was given.
i went to Panderia and started doing battle pet stuff and i was able to lvl up to 120 in a few days. crazy, but that’s what I’m dealing with. I submitted a bug report.
The game is so messed up on lagging servers right now you cant even play

I went lvl 100 to 110 in 4 days with my Paladin in Draenor and Legion but since i reached lvl 111 the buff doesnt work anymore. I switched for my warrior lvl 99 and reached 101 in 20mn of questing in Legion too and it was obvious view the numbers the buff worked. I submitted a ticket …

Sweet!! Any chance of doing a boost like this for rep grinding? Seems like it’s taking forever to nail down the Mechagnomes & Vulpera.

I ran 3 Legion dungeons with my 110 that had not touched BFA. I received 50% of a level for my first run, about 45% for the second and after finishing my third at 101 I did not get any XP. The mobs for all 3 dungeons were barely giving anything. So after 3 runs I’m at 111 having run with full rested XP and 5 pieces of heirlooms.
Does this buff stop working at 110? Is there any reason why my XP gains would be so low?
