I was of the same stance, but… as a Pandaren fanatic, I just had to have a Pandaren DK in my arsenal. I was got.

Since this is taking place right as 8.3 launching next week, AKA before the Shadowlands cinematic, I guess the idea is that Bolvar is creating these DKs to fight against N’zoth, being that undead are more resistant to mind control. So perhaps after this initial questline the Horsemen return to Acherus or on the frontline.

It was stated at Blizzcon that the fourth generation DKs are being raised because Bolvar knows that Sylvanas is coming. They exist purely to be his elite guard, and then they just disappear when it actually happens.

The pre-expansion event would likely be part of the 9.0 patch, about a month before Shadowlands launches, when they introduce new systems, class changes, new leveling experience, etc.

I’m a little disappointed that none of the allied race DKs seem to have any additional skin customization options. I hope those are considered for the future, it just doesn’t feel right to play a death knight without the white/green/black skintones and extra frostbite/decay features that all the former races had.

Also wish I could up-vote yeh post more. I enjoy DKs unique extra rotted or frost touched skin looks in customizing them. It be an extra perk to the class to have these looks and hearing we aren’t getting them with allied races joining the DK banner is very disappointing.

So Pandarens, they start as Neutral. I wonder how they will sort that out. When you do the starter quests for DKs…you’d have to pick for which faction I guess.

Pandaren Death Knights will choose their faction on the character customization screen.

Just as an fyi, we made a correction. We deleted a typo that incorrectly stated that pandaren can receive Heritage Armor by leveling to 110.* Apologies for the confusion.

I’m not surprised that it was a typo, but I would’ve loved the surprise if it were real.

They might be planning on waiting to release Allied Race/Pandaren DK-specific options until they have new options for all Death Knights. At the very least, it sounds like they might decide to do more DK-only options after they add the new Core Race options.

Much as I am excited, I am disappointed there aren’t any DK skin or hair options for these guys. I am hoping this is just for those whom pre-purchased, and that when the actual expansion comes out, you will release that. (Which is why I am also assuming this is why no starter zone is happening yet, you want us to wait until Shadowlands, and this is pretty much the sample.)

Horde sort of lost the cool dk skins on this one I mean there is maghar and Zandalari but meh.

Void elf/lightforge is a cool concept, especially void elf.

The restless spirits of pandaren and Allied Races can return to the mortal plane as Death Knights in the upcoming Visions of N’Zoth content update.

After first forking over $39.99 for expansion that still a year away. Always a good idea to buy before seeing the final product.
