First run today: Necrotic Wake. We get in, I explain that i’m learning to heal to take it easy on me. Tank immediately leaves. dps wait it out for a min or so but they quit as well. Requeue for completely new group.
Necrotic Wake again. Hey, newer to healing but know they basics. 2 DPS leave. Tank calls me a noob as says that I don’t have any right(?) queuing as a healer until I learn the dungeons. 2 DPS join group as the tank sits in front of me saying to kick him over and over, not running with noob healer.
These are normal dungeons that unlock while im leveling. I don’t understand this kind of behavior.
switched to timewalking, Tank seems nice 3 guild members… says don’t worry we’ll carry you. Run was going fine and I was learning my keybinds, felt I was doing okay. At the last boss im kicked and /lold at. Really annoyed at this point but at least I got to play some of the dungeon.
I managed to find a nice person on my server to run a timewalking with (The portal ones, it was easy) and he told me to just not say anything in groups that I do fine. My only intention announcing that i’m newer to the gameplay style is the tank not leaving me behind or pulling the whole dungeon. I just wanted to learn to heal because i’m not a big fan of my classes dps specs. So far, I think i’m just going to reroll a different DPS class and stay silent in groups and hope for the best.
Kind of doubt that this all happened but people suck so I kind of believe it. You don’t really need a healer in leveling dungeons, so they were drama queens or terrible players (or both) if this is true.
Its like click but i think its easier to configure. You click on the icon on your minimap, then click spells and you can setup all your spells there. If you use shift and ctrl modifiers you should be good with like 4 buttons.
Healing once you get the hang of it is one of the most fun things.
My recommendation is to spend a bit of time in the open world getting used to healing, then do and finish the challenges from your class trainer (which while is not the same as a party, gets you used to the pace).
From there it’s chill!
I spent a patch purely as a mistweaver and while there were some runs that didn’t go great overall it was A+.
Mouseover macros and having raidframes for your party members will help a lot too!
I believe it in that my experiences would vary a lot. In one run it would be that ‘WoW mistweaver is an amazing healer, good work’ and in another I would leave from people just continuously standing in bad :(.
It could be that OP might have just been trying to heal like a melee rotation or not had practice.
I expect it in heroic and beyond, but not normals. When tanks leave in normals, I’ll put on my shield and switch specs, until the group finder puts a tank in our group. I’m not a fan of tanking for pugs, but if a healer is learning, I’ll do what I can to help.
you need to do group content to actually socialize with groups and get these experiences. You haven’t done any Mythic, no raids, not even LFR. Barely have done anything Shadowlands dungeons. Seems normal that nothing like this would happen to you.
In lower keys is hard because you will get companios that are actually worse and will eat a lot of avoidable damage, stressing your mana a lot. Higher keys are kinda easier because those players now know how to avoid damage and will stress you less, but on the other side mechanics hit harder and you will need to know them better do plan your cooldowns and buffs.
The best advice is to learn in Proving Grounds. You can enter there for your Class Hall or near a class trainer. Look it up.
You are basically team up with an IA party that you need to heal in many phases when you need to interrupt, CC, use cd’s and learn the basic rotations. If you wipe you dont even lose durability and the IA party never rage quits XD
Start there and when you get the basics go to dungeons.
Also, hang in there, one thing you learn after healing (or like me, doing it for many years, in more than one game) is that people are idiots. Granted, my faith in humanity was low to begin with, but healing has shown me a whole new low.
I am going to be on tonight and I need to run some timewalking if you want me to go with you. I can bring my hunter but I’m an experienced healer as well. I am never mean in dungeons and I like to help people learn
