Hello all, I am more of a casual player myself with Dragonflight being out for awhile and my main toon still sitting around 383 ilevel. I cannot for the life of me run any mythic past +10 if I even get allowed into a group (Destro warlock) and I also cannot seem to get a mythic chest or trinket after months of a few mythic dungeons a week… So these items are still around 360 ilevel.
My questions are, What tools/methods do u guys do to grind/get specific gear?
And why the hell am I being ignored every 15/16 invites for mythic dungeons? Is my spec not good? I heard from a few players that your suppose to dodge warlocks like the plague in mythics, especially destruction. This true? Thanks all!
Because why would people invite you to their 15 keys when you cant even time an 8?
run your own key. And keep running it until you have the gear and experience (IO score). It wont be an overnight thing unless you want to go ham and just do dungeon all day.
DPS get ignored because there are 5 DPS players for each spot in a M+ dungeon. Probably more. It’s an ugly truth, but it is what it is.
You should try filling in gaps with crafted gear, LFR gear, or upgraded storm gear until you can get drops in whatever M+ you can get into.
Then just farm up valor to raise the ilvl of gear, prioritizing tier pieces.

It won’t be an over night thing, it will take months and months and months. It’s a complete waste of time, I would just find a different game imo. This expansion is not for casuals.

One thing i can suggest is running keys that are only slightly above what youve ran so far, getting a solid rating and history can help get your foot in the door for higher keys. For the more stubborn gear slots you can get crafted gear with sparks of ingenuity and can also look up dungeons to find one that drops whatever slot youre most in need of.
With how much you complain I’m surprised you’re still here.

Destro’s pretty good in some dungeons and it’s totally fine for like up to 22s in everything else. I think you basically just have to do a lot of dungeons to get gear. That’s what it seems like to me anyway. Oh and also you should craft 5 pieces at 392 ilvl that will help you alot. Just don’t craft in tier slots. Destro kind of sucks without more stats it seems like to me.
Also if you find a guild or some friends things just get alot more fun.

Because for everyone like you applying to a +15 or +16 key, there’s 1-2 who applied at the same time with 20-30 ilvls more than you and an 1800+ rating. There’s never a reason to invite a DPS who isn’t overgeared. That’s just the reality of pugging - you’re only as good as your two numbers and your two numbers just aren’t that good.
If you want to get into Mythic+ and gear, pretend you’re in Classic/TBC/Wrath - get into a guild you click with, try to run keys with folks who run at that level and either have an understanding with them that you’re a work-in-progress and learning… or be good enough that they want to run more with you again.
Also a lot of guilds are doing 7/8 H on Farm these days, so if you can get some easy 402-411 raid gear, that will go a long way.
Ignore everything posted so far, instead goto wowhead, and read the guide for the class and spec you are playing.
EVERYTHING is fully explained and detailed as much as possible.
2nd, goto curseforge, and grab any and all recommended addons in that guide.
3rd, install discord if you dont already have it, join the discord for your class and read and ask questions there. They will also have macros and weak auras recommended.
Other than that, just keep pushing. If you got 8s done get 9s. If you got 9s, get 10s…

My mage is 389 got to 70 about 2 weeks ago.
I’ve done no quests/no WQ/no rares nothing at all that would give gear other than M+.
I’ve run a total of 29 Keys ranging from 2-12, I’ve formed every single one of those key groups as its impossible to get an invite unless you are either overgeared/over io.
It’s very easy to get hard carried all the way up to 10 if you build a proper team. I was doing 8-10’s at 358 ilvl and getting carried by randoms.
Make your own group and get carried, also please craft some gear.
You get 5 sparks from the quests, costed me around 3k gold worth of materials to craft 3x 392 gear.
Why would you even need to? You should still get upgrades out of +7s and most of your upgrades should be from the Vault anyway. Not to mention, now that valor is uncapped, you can run lower keys to farm valor.
Mostly though, the main bottleneck to running higher keys isn’t gear. It’s learning mechanics and building a solid team to run with. Focus on that and you’ll find your issues solve themselves.
The Elemental Storm gear is actually really nice. I’ve got a two set right now, and while they’re only 385 pieces, the extra stats from the set bonus means I’d actually need something in the high 390s at least to replace them.
No, destro is quite good. It’s been played in world-first keys, the MDI, and is more represented than the other 2 specs.
I’d do a few things
- The weeklies. Some weeks, you can get decent ilvl gear for doing mythic dungeons, timewalking, etc.
- Kill some rares.
- Do LFR/the world boss. Try to sneak into normal if you can.
- Continue running M+. You can actually deplete your own key, run it with a cloth stack, and then get gear that way. Then put valor into your new pieces.
- Get stuff crafted.
Also put a gem in your damn helm. And get catalyst unlocked so you can start towards 2/4pc
FINALLY good advice on this forum.
Use your sparks to craft your lowest ilevel slots.
You wont get invited to 15s until youre higher ilevel. Unfortunately, you are behind the curve, there are plenty of 400+ DPS queing 15s, so they arent tajing you.
Pug normal and heroic raid. First few are free.
Probably will do that for the entire thread and never return.
As a destro main with KSM, below 20 you’re better off running demo. I did it as destro, but with guildmates. You’re also running into the issue that you’re one of thousands of dps, so groups can be picky. You’re best off running your own keys if you can’t get a friend/guild group going.
Edit: gearing will happen. You do need to farm Nok and SBG for the trinkets.
