Newcomers channel cut off - alternatives

This side of the forums looks to be a bit more active so sorry for cross post.

The newcomers channel cut off at 60 for all of my characters. Is there an alternative, a chat, something that people use? I feel like I’ll get trolled if I ask questions in trade.

I’m googling and still at a loss. Examples:
Level 63 druid was getting absolutely smashed. I’ve hit temporary max at 70 until I buy the expansion. Is it worth trying to get better gear or better to level an alt?
It seems like it might be easier to do the allied races quest at lower levels. Tried after 60 and got ROFL stomped.
Tried doing allied races quest and missed something on the high mountain Tauren one. Trying to Google where I went wrong…
I haven’t even finished a single campaign in Dragon isles. Is it worth doing so or do I keep running my characters thru the same quests?

TIA!

I answered your other post as well, but I see this one has more questions.

Depends. If you’re going to stay at 70 and play your 70 a lot, and you are feeling very weak, then that’s going to be a bummer until you get some gear.

Personally, I think a 70 only gets comfortable at an ilevel of around 500, butyou can make do with 480 or so. But if you are at something like 400, you will be struggling hard.

The Auction House may have some cheap pieces for a quick boost BUT BE CAREFUL that the ACTUAL ITEM you are buying can be equipped at level 70. Not the type of item,
but the actual one you are biying. Some pieces, even eith the same name, may be restricted to higher levels.

Otherwise, continuing with Dragonflight is probably your best resource for gear, and then World Quests when you have completed the campaign around the zones.

OTOH, if you have no problems at 70, then obviously you don’t need more gear.

It shouldn’t be easier. That sounds like a low-geat-at-70 problem.

Post more details here. Where were you in the Highmountain chain?

As I said above, if you are going to stay at 70 for long and you want to upgrade your gear, then more Dragonflight is your best option apart from what you can pick up cheap at the AH.

Big thanks on the answers above!!

Gear - I’ll need to get exact numbers, but I want to say ilvl is closer to 300, which explains A LOT. At about 45ish, I did time walking dungeons and then the allied races quests. I still have at least 1-2 greens from level 30s (trinket / ring) - no replacements ever popped. If there’s something I can do quest wise, that would be better (recognizing gear problem).

For High mountain, I did the 3 control the vision quests, but it looks like there’s a missing NPCs one I’ll need to go hunt down. I basically ended up at a cave with no other quests.

Also, what on earth are communities? I’m in a guild. Is it community OR guild or can you have community AND guild?

TIA!

Yeah, if your ilevel is around 300 (you can see it at the top of your Character display; press C) you are not even in the game. Upgrade soonest. Questing anywhere + Auction House is your easiest way.

For Highmountain, you may be on

or

Specify which quest(s) is in your log,

Communities are like guilds, but non exclusive. You can be in a guild, and at the same time as many Communities as you like, but you can’t be in two gulds at the same time.

326 ilvl. Yeah, I’m going to sort this out ASAP.

With high mountain - I think I picked up one and not the other, so I completed one and need to figure out where I missed one. There’s nothing in the log and I need to find where I missed the thread (and remember which I completed).

I’ll join some newbie communities and maybe that will also help. I’ve either soloed everything, did AI runs and whatever randoms happened. Even with server sharing, some of the questing areas I’ve been in are nearly empty. I’d love to team up on some things with people to break the monotony of solo play.

Well, here’s the squence on your Highmountain recruitment. It might help to guide you where to look

Still working on bringing ilvl up, but even at 377, it’s noticably better. Ilvl 500ish greens are 200,000 +gold, which is well beyond what I have. So made some stuff and am questing. At least now I can kill more than 2 things and not have to heal constantly.

The numbers on this game do a real hockey stick after 60ish. Gold, gear, etc.

Truly, thank you.

I ended up buying the game while the leveling bonus was still up. Got a free level 70 with MUCH better gear (greens, but ilvl was much higher). That one leveled absurdly easy after playing hard mode sad ilvl games. Got that one 80, in a guild with a friend, and have already hit the latest raid on normal and 2 bosses on heroic.

Still way too much to learn, and I just dinged 80 on the original character. I think I got his ilvl up to 620ish with a plan to throw in some delves (different server/faction).

Buying the upgrade (with the boost) definitely made things a lot easier. I still wish I had access to newbs because I’m still asking questions and having fractal Google things (x item which I still don’t understand so further and further down).

I am so happy to see you made it to the Promised Land.

Blizzard really needs to fix the Gear Gap at 70.

So many people post here with troubles while levelling, and I often never know whether they made it or not. Some, I can see their character hit max, so at least they made it that far. Some maybe posted on a different character and I never know whether they made it And some just didn’t make it. It’s always nice to see a success.

I hope you enjoy WoW for many more years. :+1:

I suspect with DF being the main 10-70 leveling experience, the gear was more spread out. I never made it past the first zone questing, took time between 40-55 to hit time walking (no drops, but very fast leveling), and kept ending up with cosmetics as rewards. That last piece is the biggest - leveling, I (and maybe it’s just me) don’t need cosmetics, didn’t understand them (still don’t), and couldn’t get a weapon.

The K’aresh quest line is a perfect catch-up tool - I want more of these. It gives you gear for every slot, is so far worth taking alts thru, provides a weapon early (only complaint is variability and not getting OS weapon).

I suspect a lot of gear shows up early, tapers off, assuming you’re leveling 10 levels and not 60ish. I leveled so quickly in one zone, I ended up super behind gear wise. Yes, it scales a bit, but so so so many cosmetics…

I wish there were some easy “I’m behind on gear, move up what I have” that wasn’t absurdly expensive. AH prices are not reasonable for a new player (lvl 70 boost char came with 5k gold that grew to about 14kish thru leveling / selling some things, but that seems like chump change in contrast to AH pricing. Ilvl also rapidly hockey stick at 60 and it’s brutal. It really helps to have a social network willing to help you out, which can create wide variations in experience.

Definitely much easier to level an alt.
