Newbie Here, Server Question!

Hello! I’m new, and finally made a character that “clicked” in terms of gameplay and fun to me. Now that I did and actually made it out of a starting area, though, I’m told that my server, Twisted Nethers, is a “dead” server. I do enjoy a bit of RP, and know I probably won’t be able to do the hardcore/ high end content, and the list of servers is… intimidating. Are there servers I should look into? I might want to invite friends to join me at a latter date, so I am reluctant to make a character on a “Full” server.

Realms are connected together in clusters. Not sure how “dead” your particular realm is, but here is a list of the clusters.

Just join a “full” server. It doesn’t mean anything but that there have been generated many characters. It doesn’t say anything about current player numbers within the game either.

My RP server is ArgentDawn-EU and it is currently pretty empty despite being a “full” server.

You should try Moon Guard. Lot’s of people RPing and do high end content. My server is very populated, but be careful! Don’t go to Goldshire because there’s degenerative stuff that goes on there! BUT… if you need to do the quests there, just do them ASAP, and don’t pay attention to the nonsense!

I second Moon Guard. Lots of RP. Lots of immersive guilds. Content is cross server, so there if you want it. It’s “full” but I’ve gotten new friends on there. If you are actually looking for RP and to see people, you’ll need to go onto a full server anyways. Low pop RP servers are dead.

Avoid Goldshire.

that isn’t a current reflection of what you get. I have characters on one of those servers and my shards are constantly full of people from Emerald Dream

As already mentioned, Moon Guard is a great server for RP…but it also depends a good bit on which faction you prefer to play as well, because the population on MG heavily favors the Alliance. Wyrmrest Accord is the other way around, with a greater Horde population. I’ve also heard that Emerald Dream is a decent RP server, with a more even population balance between the factions…though I’ve not started a character there to see how good it actually is.

Did someone suggest Moonguard yet? If you want to RP as alliance, it’s really the only option now. I mean, cross-server will let you play on any server…but you won’t find very much “walk-up” RP anywhere else.

Generally speaking you’ll have a better experience on a bigger server than a small one.

Individual server stability hasn’t been an issue in a while so it’s not like the old days where you couldn’t play on the big realms without crashes/queues for weeks after an expac launch.

If you’re interested in RP, RP realms are in their own little cluster of realms and you won’t get much interest in RP outside them so you should probably play on one of those. IIRC the big two are Moon Guard and Wyrmrest Accord, with Moon Guard being more Alliance heavy and Wyrmrest being more Horde heavy.

Thank you for the advice! I’ll roll this character on Moonguard, then… I got booted out of the Dracthyr starting area faster than I expected, so I’ll use this opportunity to explore it more too.

Can you even see which characters are on a certain realm now? Mine are all listed on right side of screen regardless of server. I don’t use the warband screen, not a fan.

In my opinion, Moonguard is one of the weirdest servers ever. But if you want RP then you go to MG.
