The fact that he was mentoring Lufsela on how to properly commune with the stormrooks gave you the impression he was still struggling?
Him struggling doesnāt mean he canāt teach others things he knows. When I see him wielding the elements again Iāll believe he is back to Shaman competency. Though it wouldnāt surprise me if that just happened off camera and never got mentioned.
But he wouldnāt be in the right mental state to actually TEACH anyone if he was having his own personal issues still
I hope they did, as this elemental issue is the most silliest things I have seen. Especially since there are so many other op powered characters out there. If they did then they need to come out and just state it as such.
However given what I have seen in game, he doesnāt use the elementals at all. He is just providing guidance, a lot of retired sportsmen become coaches doesnāt mean they can still play.
Nothing about the Koshāharg showed me he was struggling. He was going to partake in the right and so couldnāt lead it. Which is why Aggra was chosen. Not because he still struggled with his connection.
That plotline had ended in Shadowlands with Draka helping him with his guilt over Garrosh and then we saw him use the elements in SoD.
Then the TWW pre-release information said he still had issues. Which we havenāt seen anything of leading me to believe it was dropped.
Inner guilt/conflict about Garrosh doesnāt suddenly rob Thrall of his knowledge about the process. Heās basically just coaching her.
Iāll have to go play through it again, but I was almost positive Thrall mentioned his shamanic powers were not in a state to make him fit to preside over it. Drekāthar was not fit to make the trip, and he kinda cuts Thrall off like āno, not you idiot, your wife.ā
Which, as Gormur pointed out, was solved in SL with Draka helping him get over that. Itās a dropped plot point at this stage and nothing suggest heās still struggling
When was the cinematic where heās trying to meditate and gets frustrated? Canāt track it down.
Youāre thinking of the Xalāatath short cinematic where sheās speaking about each of the leaders (Alleria, Anduin, Thrall) and when it gets to thrall you hear Xal mention his anger or something along those lines
cool trailer I forgot about it
To quote one of the commentors there, Thrall wasnt have issue with the element, he just saw the elemental tree and realized he needed to take icefury.
He is very clearly trying to Shaman and being very frustrated he cannot. That does not tell me that he is back to normal.
Yeah no Thrall still canāt light a fire. This plotbeat is absolutely not over somehow. That video makes it very clear.
It hasnāt come up at all in the game though. Not even when he was helping that earthen shaman lady.
Thrall seems pretty much in command leading the Horde fleet into Donegal Bay as well as being The Worldās Greatest Detective in sussing out our releuctant stormrook caller.
What part of those translates into him not having his act together?
Here is the quest and exact lines.

Farseer DrekāThar says: Ha! You are worthy indeed. But these old bones wonāt make it to Kalimdor. Another will have to preside over the Koshāharg.
Thrall says: If I am to complete the rite, I cannot lead theā
Farseer DrekāThar says: Not you. Aggralan.
Aggra says: Me?
Farseer DrekāThar says: Your strength speaks for itself. You are more than readyā¦ Farseer.
Farseer DrekāThar says: A title long overdue.
Aggra bows.
Aggra says: Iā¦ I am honored.
I completely forgot about that video.
I know in the Beta they had Jaina mention how Thrall was struggling to connect with the elements. However this was dropped when TWW went live.
They could have dropped it for one reason or another (fan backlash?) or it will get revisted. Time will tellā¦
Lufsela seemed like a good opportunity to explore the issue, but nothing.
I stand firm in my conviction that he will only be a true Shaman again when he dons the rest of his Doomplate and reclaims the Doomhammer. He is only missing the breastplate now.
The fact that he isnāt a shaman, and is having elemental issues. Sure he mentors stromrook caller, but he is just advising. During all of his questing if you notice he uses warrior move sets.
Even Anduin who lost his light is back calling on the light. While Thrall been having elemental issues for a decade now. Maybe our expectation are different, but I want the one active horde character to actually have a story arch where he over comes his short comings and goes back to himself. There arenāt any power full horde characters having thrall back would be a great start.
I remember that line as well. Hopefully they dropped this stupid issue but I do not see thrall doing any shaman stuff either.
