So obviously the new WoW expansion appears to deviate from the standard WoW format since classic. Is this going to be the standard, or is it just for the announcement/marketing?
I’m good with either, just bittersweet if we’re going to be changing logos after all these years.

Yeah, the title that you’d see on like promotional / physical content such as the games actual box.
The logo has evolved over time. It’s thematically consistent. The only difference I see is the text is not inside a border this time.

Each expansion has its own specific brand for the title. Dragonflight’s is like grey wings surrounding the name “WORLD OF WARCRAFT: DRAGONFLIGHT.”
The one for TWW is “WORLD OF WARCRAFT: THE WAR WITHIN” but like a red globe.

The new circular motif seems too be what they’re doing to denote the Worldsoul Saga, might end up being different for whatever comes next after it wraps up
Oh yeah, it is different. Honestly, I didn’t even really think about it.
So while all previous ones have some variation based on the specific expansion, they still all followed the same general style: “world of warcraft” text inside of a shape which includes a globe within it, with the expansion name sitting below the shape. Whereas TWW, and its sequels all seem to have a logo with with “world of warcraft” text and the expansion name sitting in front of a larger globe, with text extending beyond it.
It could be a permanent change. Or it could just be for this Worldsoul Saga. Or there could still be a version of those three logos in the old style though. Just shrink down the globe and add in an expansion appropriate shape to surround the game’s name.
