If it doesnt have wow like combat I’m not interested. Doesnt have to be tab target, just needs to be fluid, reactive, not clunky and slow

New World is gonna be a niche PvP thing and nothing more. If you watch their little video snippets focusing on specific aspects of the game, you’d know all SEVEN or whatever of them managed to loop right back to talking about PvP despite there also being a dedicated PvP snippet.
For that reason, it’s not gonna be notable long-term as an MMORPG. I -want- there to be good MMORPGs popping up, but I’m probably going to pass on New World.

Ashes of Creation is much more ambitious, fully funded, and being developed by actual gamers not a company like Amazon (New World) that’s probably the one to watch. This benefits WoW because competition makes things better.

That being said why does a game have to kill another game why can’t people enjoy both
yeeeeea cause were totally all still here for state of the art graphics or a unique game play experience from this 17 year old game. Face it, wows cemented itself into the very fabric of our reality. There will be people playing it until the servers shut down from rust build up.

The only game that will kill WoW is WoW itself.
I’m sure some players will at least try New World. It doesn’t interest me personally.

Link me the newest video of Ashes combat please. Last time I looked at anything it was atrocious. But it’s been a long time.
What if I told you that FFXIV and GW2 are going relatively strong in their own lanes? They don’t target the same audience as Blizz does with WoW anyway.
My point was some MMOs are giving WoW a run for it’s money and yet some people still see those games as flops. Literally a person in the thread calling every MMO post WoW Vanilla Launch a flop.
Yea this one will definitely do it for sure, from the studio that released games and then-unreleased them shortly after. Yep definitely. There is no WoW killer only corporate nonsense that exists in the entire game industry, every other MMO is basically the Walmart brand version of WoW. Every single one. Hot take but it’s the truth.
Correction. 0 WoW killers incoming. While I am excited for AoC, the only game that can kill WoW was released November 23rd, 2004
I forgot about Pantheon, was being developed by Brad McQuaid one of the original creators of Everquest. He’s since died but the project is still carrying on with the concepts he brought.
Ashes of Creation has founder packs, that is an instant red flag for me. That’s on par with funding a game through crowdsourcing. That also tells me they’re cash shop will be full of p2w crap to try and make a quick buck.

The owner of Intrepid Studios and the guy who funded AoC to completion has said repeatedly there will be no P2W in the AoC shop.
The Cosmetics being sold there are only to fund the game past it’s initial launch.

Unfortunately this is probably true… Ashes of Creation has the best shot, BUT from what I’ve seen thus far, the combat needs to get better, for sure.
New World combat remains horrid.
