There have been 4 World Trees planted on Azeroth.
3 out of 4 of those Trees were corrupted and almost led to catastrophe.
And I’m not even sure what they do.
Nordrassil, sure. It “capped” the Well.
And Vordrassil was supposed to “cap” Yoggy’s blood (bad idea, turns out).
But the rest just kinda sorta exist.
More often then not, they end up being giant back doors for evil forces to use.
So just stop with World Trees.
Maybe settle for a City Tree.
Or a Neighborhood Tree.
Or maybe just a nice bonsai.

I mean… it DID work. Sauronite stopped appearing all over the world and stuff.
Then it gains 5 points for having a valid point to exist.
But still takes a -20 penalty for giving Yoggy a backdoor to the Dream.

If the new World Tree comes in DF then it will come in on the circular sea area. It will probably be a patch zone like Mechagon was and yes there will be a threat on it that will need to be fought for rewards and other goodies to justify the cost of putting this in there.
I know I am negative nancy around here when it comes to this stuff but this, this I don’t mind. As long as there is some sort of pretty capital city still standing and with a living population. A payoff. I mean a pay off.

If they can keep the overt corruption down to the levels that vanilla Teldrassil had, I would not mind so much. I just do not want our new tree to be stuck in some sort of eternal and obvious void attack like Ashenvale is stuck in an eternal horde attack. Or Darkshore is stuck in an Eternal Warzone.

In regards to a capitol, my own preference is that it isn’t in a World Tree this time.
Now I admit, I’m not the biggest Night Elf fan. But Teldrassil always looked so jank. More like a World Stump with nubby branches poking out.
Maybe use the seed to heal Teldrassil, but keep it an art asset viewed from the shore.
Or if they do make it a zone again, then really put some elbow grease down and try and incorporate it into the tree better.
Maybe instead of an open-top stump, have it be a series of massive chambers that vibe with the Night Elves nocturnal nature.

To be fair it worked for Nordrassil. 
Valshara I think is a more apt description but yeah, you are absolutely right.
I want to see something like Suramar but everything is built into nature either around the tree or built into the tree. Kind of like the Lothlorien elves in LOTR.

It would be completely in-character for Blizzard to crap on night elves some more by going “this is their hope, their dreams of a better future now that everything is behind us” and then corrupting it.

It seems strange to me that Tyrande and Merithra are so sure about stowing the seed away in the Emerald Dream, as if the Rift of Aln doesn’t still exist within the dream itself.
Who knows, maybe a nightmare/void threat to the Night Elves’ new tree might allow the Void Elves to be of some use, considering that is meant to be their specialty.

I think with their current tech abilities they could bring what Teldrassil was supposed to be to life. It should of had immense branches like… a tree… but Teldrassil was vanilla mesh that never got an update in Cataclysm.
That said We do not know if this is going to be a Teldrassil sized world tree, or a Nordrassil sized one. I am almost 100% sure it will be the former, but they could do the latter.
