Not necessarily the gameplay, but if they can’t get into the gameplay to begin with (because Amazon has decided in their infinite wisdom and wealth, didn’t even prepare for this, in 2021 with their trillions of dollars.) due to the long ques and very very very low capped servers, don’t you think that’s a problem that needed to be addressed?..
I mean, let’s look at it this way. If 10% of the negative reviews are complaining about the actual gameplay and it’s elements, and 90% is just the ques, then that tells me that the gameplay itself is pretty decent the very least (given it’s floating about half in positive rating on Steam), but the problem is something that is preventing them to get to that gameplay.
…With hopefully higher caps… I honestly don’t know what they were thinking. 2 Thousand? Really?.. Not even WoW Vanilla started with that…
Oh, definitely and at least they’re being reactive with it. Probably shoulda been handled better but I’m wondering if Amazon just got swamped with day one purchases rather than being ill prepared out of the gate. Heck, if you go and change the time played metric value of the filters on Steam to over 10hrs, the positive reviews jump by another seven percent which is pretty sizable.
Here’s to hoping and I agree with you 100% on this. I’m just not sure if the way that resource dispersion is on the maps, the limited availability of those resources and a completely player ran economy would be feasible with a much higher cap.
Most of them are not criticisms of the game itself, but about the server infrastructure. Some of the negative reviews even points out that, as a game, it is quite fine, they just give a heavy negative score because of the server infrastructure.
I am well aware that it is overall a par tof it. But come the duck on.
I am trying to find out whether it is a good game or not.
Not whether the servers are terrible or not.
A bad game is bad forever and at best, for a long time.
Servers are a easier thing to deal with.
Also, people don’t see more than about 750 (And that is being generous) people a day in a MMORPG. Having a limit of 2000 is not as big a deal as people make it out to be, and people will be thankful for it once the ‘fresh smell’ starts to wear off.
I still think the game is going to get hit very hard and ultimatively “fail”.
But let no one say I am not fair in my criticisms.
To be fair, you see this type of post pretty much for every game and every launch of a new game or expansion.
I don’t put a lot of weight into launch issues because I expect them. I know that typically in a week or two things will be running smoothly. I take all the launch day horror stories with a grain of salt. If I put much weight into them, I wouldn’t ever play any games that come out. I have played many launches and can hardly remember any being great or smooth.
I have saw similar posts in these forums countless time regarding WoW itself and the launch of expansions and Classic.
New World launches and I’m off playing Valheim again after the new update. Hmm.
With all new game launches (especially hyped up ones) they’ll always have a big 1st month, but after 3-4 months they usually taper off just like most MMO launches.
How is the RP over there. When starting a new MMORPG with no previous lore to go off of it can be difficult for roleplay to flourish. FFXIV had the advantage of tapping into the anime fad that is gripping the US even though its RPersa prefer RP that is more of an “Adult” variety it still exists.
Well in New World’s defense it is made by a smaller company and this tends to happen when a company underestimates how many players it would get. It happened to FFXIV it happened to Diablo 3 and the remaster of 2.
