I want going to play it before, I mean I had zero interest, but this post here changed my mind. None of the other ones had a chance to recruit me but this one is the one. I’m inducing, giving away gold, deleting characters, and quitting wow forever because of this thread. Thanks OP.

I will say after playing it: if you miss old school pre 2005 MMOs, you’ll like New World. If you don’t you’ll probably hate it.
I love old school, so despite the queues and human only character creation I got sucked in. Waiting eagerly to play again.

Nah, New World is just another step in that direction.
With FFXIV having already taken a big number.
It is proposed that New World with take another big number, which I personally doubt, New World is too far-fetched from the kind of MMORPG that World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV is, and it is largely catering to a niche playerbase within a niche playerbase.
Many will go play New World, many will return to WoW not longer after.

Many people will eventually play Ashes of Creation, many people will move on to Pantheon. The recurring theme here isn’t about other games being released, it’s that the quality of WoW is declining.

Personally, I think that lost niche deserves to come back into the spotlight and am glad New World is doing so (even though it’s PvE still needs work).
Enough with the theme parks.

This is true, tbh. I honestly expect New World to have a short lifespan but am very curious as to how things will turn out. At least the launch is fun!
