New way to rename pets?

For the life of me I cannot find how to rename pets…

You right click on their picture in the top left and click “rename”

Note that if you’ve already named that pet, you’ll need a Certificate of Ownership, crafted by scribes, to rename it again.

Well for a lot of use there is no option to rename when you click on the pet. There is something wrong with it or Blizz changed it and forgot to let us know.

I just tamed Fenryr, he was initially named “Wolf”, and I was able to right click rename him (back to Fenryr).

I’ll test with Faultline next, I need Clefthooves for BM and I only have the generic Rhinos from Borean Tundra that look like spiked potatoes.

Edit: Gonna be a while - I forgot to take off my weapon first, so I knocked his health too low to get Faultline to come out, and while figuring out what to do (and with no pet out) I ate a spear.

So now I’m perma-stunned while Darmac and an army of beasts hit me for literally 2 or 3 damage per swing.

Ya, gotta love those spears. It’ll kill you in about 3-4 minutes, then you can do it again.

Also, note that you can feign after taming Faultline, assuming you’re quick about putting him on passive and have Play Dead, then run the fight again and tame him a second time immediately.

Yeah, just did that.

Confirmed unable to rename Faultline (either of them) immediately post-taming.

I reported as a bug, this is changed behavior from what it was in 8.3.

I’m almost positive this behavior was present when I tamed my Faultlines in 8.3. I believe it represents a change from prior to that, but I believe it was already the case in at least 8.3.

Entirely possible, I haven’t tamed anything named since whatever patch put in the Hati tames.
