New Void DH must be ranged

Not only has everyone who has proposed a 3rd Demon Hunter spec always proposed a ranged spec, but, druid is still THE ONLY CLASSS IN THE GAME that offers a Tank and Ranged roll to the same character. I honestly believe they should add a ranged spec and that the void DH stuff should be the hero talents introduced between the ranged spec and Havoc.

They wield fire, shadow and chaos magic. Not every demon hunter is going to focus on melee combat. there will be sorcerer types, such as Alari the Soul Eater. Thinking hundreds of melee fighters with no ranged or magical support of any kind will win a confrontation is just a dumb tactical decision, and Illidan would not have been that dumb. That’s why casters do exist in the demon hunter ranks such as Alari.

Throw glaive. Illidan having ranged abilities himself in the little scenario you play as him in. Maybe not 40 yard range, but there is some ranged stuff there. Even several of the current demon hunter abilities are ranged – the sigils for example. But that scenario with Illidan in the air firing fireballs IS a significant part of the demon hunter fantasy.

They’re countless examples of ranged demon hunters and their abilities are quite varied.

Honestly, I’ll be pretty disappointed if it’s just a ranged spec. I’d rather see something like survival with both melee and ranged skills.

I think “must be” and “everyone who has proposed” sound a little strong, but you might get your wish. Instead of trying to convince us (I’m sure Blizz has already decided), just look at the abilities for Adarius Duskblaze, the 1st of his kind:

  • Devourer’s Ire Instant
    Adarus hurls orbs of ravenous void at several locations, inflicting 4918841 Cosmic damage to all players if not intercepted. Adarus focuses his gaze upon players who intercepted these orbs, continually assailing them with Consume and increasing their Physical damage taken by 100%. Upon removal, Devourer’s Ire transfers to a nearby player and inflicts 1756729 Cosmic damage to all players.
  • Consume 2 sec cast
    Adarus drains the essence of players afflicted with Devourer’s Ire, inflicting 562153 Cosmic damage and absorbing the next 2260585 healing received.
    This blast applies Unending Hunger.
  • Unending Hunger Instant
    Adarus withers their target, increasing the damage and healing absorb taken from Consume by 20% for 1 min. This effect stacks.
  • Voidstep 2.5 sec cast
    Adarus tears open a path through the void and teleports to a new location, inflicting 9134990 Cosmic damage to players within 4 yards along the path to his destination.
    During this movement, Adarus manifests images of himself which cast Hungering Slash.
  • Hungering Slash Instant
    Images of Adarus slice open the fabric of the void around them, inflicting 11243065 Cosmic damage to players within 8 yards and coalescing a pool of Encroaching Oblivion.
  • Encroaching Oblivion Instant
    A growing expanse of void opens, inflicting 843230 Cosmic damage every 1 sec to players within and increasing their damage taken by 30%.
    The void spreads over time, but players afflicted with Devourer’s Ire can greedily consume the essence and reduce its size.
  • Eradicate 2.5 sec cast
    Adarus conjures a scythe-wielding shadow that dashes behind players and cleaves through them, inflicting 17567289 Cosmic damage to all players struck.

this is promising. I really hope it’s a ranged build, even if its a 30yrd range spec like devastation.

I could see it being something of a hybrid, like Ret Pally.

Warriors can throw their weapons, too.

Probably a debuffer. We have augs increasing the team members’ dmg. Void DH can be a dps that makes enemies take more dmg.

I dont mind if its melee or range to be honest, it would be nice having a high mobility leather range spec though. The only other new range spec we have ever had is that lizard class every single other new class\spec has been melee

Personally, I feel like if your gonna add a new spec you have to keep the dual wielding glaives/bladed 1hs and be somewhat mobile. That’s just what a demon hunter is. Not some hulking brute with a scythe/2h I get some people want to see ranged/2H but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. Maybe I’m wrong who knows. Pretty sure it will be something pseudo melee/ranged kinda like what survival hunter is.

Would happily take glaive throwing/bouncing, sort of a riff on the Wardens that do it too
Stole their techniques or somethin while imprisoned

Or a ranged weapon user, would love to see it be something like GW2 Revenant’s shortbow, where it shoots through portals (Fel/Void portals like Hasabel in Antorus, or something like that). That’s mostly cause I’m super biased and that’s the coolest weapon in that game by miles tho and Hunter is a poor substitute.

Or turn wands into an actual viable ranged weapon, Path of Exile style cause it’d be real funny :^)
