May we please have an updated UI? It’s been 15 years. Addon after Addon after Addon has been made to create a usable UI because the default one is severely outdated.
My abilities are at the very bottom of my monitor, my health, runic power, runes, and target are at the very top left, and my buffs are at the very top right. This makes absolutely no sense especially when doing mythic + content.
Please let us have an updated UI so that I don’t have to grab all of my addons again each time we have an update hoping that they’ve still got someone updating them.
It won’t even be that difficult a fix- all it would take is a couple of hours of sit down time with a few raiders to iron out a new standard that works. I’m not demanding something beautiful. Let’s just start with something functional please. Something to update the UI to something that’s both functional and built in so that we can do away with some of our addons.
Well they did technically update it for BFA, just not very well… this type of layout worked fine when monitors were smaller back in the day but its a bit dated for current gen systems.
They have resources to spend on this. And addons are buggy. Addons conflict with each other and with certain elements of the game. This is not asking them to do much- an updated UI would be one of the easiest updates to do. I just don’t understand why it hasn’t been done in all these years.
This would be easier than adding in a new mount, but they do that all of the time.
Download Elvui and you can rearrange their UI to suit your needs. You can drag an element to anywhere you want on the screen, resize it… pretty much anything you want…
WoW has an amazing UI compared to nearly every other MMORPG out there. It’s very simplified, clean, and user-friendly. The only thing I wish we had was an integrated DPS meter, healing meter, and threat meter.
They cleaned the UI up even more for the BfA launch and it’s incredible. These guys truly never fail to deliver.
You think updating the UI would take a massive undertaking? You do realize that this MMO is ever evolving, right? You know that there is a team right now adding and creating for this game, don’t you? A UI update would be easier than a lot of the things we’ve seen added recently. You really need a new troll. The “They’re too busy” troll is as old as the UI.
FFXIV has a built in system that lets me move everything to exactly where I want it and resize each component as I see fit.
No addons, no bugs, no mess.
FFXIV is far superior to this game in User Interface alone.

…I said that the resources could be put to better use.
A new UI would alienate the people who don’t use addons, and have no impact on the people who do.
…so who is this catering to?

FFXIV has this built into its game. It is possible. But then, that MMO is light years ahead of this one. (yes I do play it too)
that aside, you already can move things (maybe not everything? idk) around in the base ui (and resize some of it)
I don’t disagree that the base ui is awful. I hate it. but I don’t think that any base ui is going to be great, because you aren’t going to get a consensus on what makes a great ui.
I feel that blizz creating a simple (if awful) base ui and building in hooks for third party devs to make addons to customizie it - allowing us to tailor it to our specific likes/needs is the best possible solution.
