Considering expansions are just really big patches… no.

Anyway, 8 hours for content patches is pretty standard at this rate. It actually used to be worse.

I did hear that it used to be 24 hours or something every week.

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

Last expansion release went off smoothly. The one before that went off smoothly.

So . . . this is based on, what exactly?

8 hours every week was standard.

New patch days could get extended for over a day. Sunwell for example was 72 hour downtime.

It is a bait thing I believe, is a level 11 posting.

Ah, thank you for information. I am still relatively young. (Heck WoW is almost as old as me lol) So I didn’t play back then.

So true. They are either posting bait like this OP or claiming that the TW group they ran a twink with lifted them on their shoulders after the run and carried them into the sunset as “Holding Out For a Hero” played.

Np.

There were also some expansion launches that SHOULD have been extended.

Wrath and WoD for example. WoD in particular was really bad with frequent disconnects, 2k+ pings, inability to talk to quest givers, buggy garrisons. Problem was that the leveling experience was crammed into a single area and you had the entire server standing in basically the same spot across thousands of sharded maps – which was brand new technology they were testing out.

It was an absolute mess.

Plus the additional 4 hours of unexpected downtime and weeks of debugging.

Alexa, play the tape from TWW Pre-Patch.

They are taking 8 hours of downtime for literally nothing we aren’t even getting M0’s! What they are putting in the game is something that they normally pre patch in just not green light it this should have been done like a month ago so all they should of had to do is swap it to active and call it a day but instead we get a day of our game time wasted and for what maybe 2 hours worth of questing and nothing else!

bro when i started to playing wow you weren´t even born yet
