New unsolvable bugs today?

Many times, in trade chat I hear someone saying “this game is now so buggy”, just the other day, someone at alliance side was asking trade chat “every time I log in, I get cinematic scene, Does anyone know how to turn it off? It’s annoying” Paraphrasing here. The world is not centered and has been off to the right since last summer. You can see that in the dungeon Vortex Pinnacle after the first set of adds look at the 2 adds at the bridge and see how far off the world is. You can also see it from Korthia portal at Orobos.

Several players complain that every time they log in, they keep getting the messages “You have learned the appearance……” for about 5 minutes. It’ happened to me too about 6 weeks ago then stopped on its own. The world is not centered and has been off to the right since last summer. You can see that in the dungeon Vortex Pinnacle after the first set of adds look at the 2 adds at the bridge and see how far off the world is. You can also see it from Korthia’s portal at Orobos.

Several quests and instances are bugged and known to be bugged for years and are unsolved. For example, Vision of Orgrimmar Valley of Spirit the rare is bugged if killed too fast. Another example world quest “A Most Efficient Apocalypse” has been known to be bugged for over 6 years. There are many others like these that are unsolved I’ll let you decide why.

For me personally, every time I log in I get the messages “You have earned the title……” many times. If I’m playing during daily reset time, my daily quests won’t reset. After the rollout of 11.0 I lost my rep with the unshackled. I also lost my rep with the Honorbound after the rollout of 11.0.7.

This is a list of some of the bugs that I know about, but it’s an indication that there is a bigger problem hidden. Every time there is a software update, something else happens to someone or to the game in general. At this rate one day after a major software update you gonna have a big glitch that is gonna be so catastrophic that will require a system roll back or a game shutdown for days. Moral of the story we need new talent that can tackle these bugs, and you figure out what to do with the current talent.

That last piece there - the whole catastrophic thing… how did you conclude that’s going to happen exactly?

It’s a old adage. You could say it’s rooted in the human mind’s desire to find patterns in everything. It’s not the bug you see, it’s the bug you don’t. Think of a perfectly balanced spinning top. Every bug is a deviation from that perfection, the more and faster bugs pop up, it becomes increasingly likely (approaching inevitable) that a catastrophic event is coming. I would have said the bank data loss was the event horizon.

The bank issue was huuuuge. I’ve been getting Title spam since half way through DF I think. Definitely was happening before TWW for me. Already escalated it twice. :dracthyr_cry_animated:

I just think it’s a wild jump to be a consumer of a product and make presumptions about the integrity of the software/back office tech workings with no inside knowledge or like… explanation other than the doom of annoying glitches.

Want to hear OP’s thoughts on that piece further because it’s a pretty wild speculation.

I give them the benefit of the doubt. It’s a leap, but not a huge one. It’s the kind that makes for good clickbait articles though. “Recession is coming.” “Civil war imminent.” Etc.

It almost happened last week when classic fresh players joined SoD BGs and got access to boons. This bug was also very predictable. When finding groups with the dungeon finder Fresh and SoD players were both showing up in the same queue since launch. Blizzard didn’t bother investigating that further to see if it would affect automated BG queues. QA has gotten noticeably worse in the past half year or so.

What!! That’s craziness. I bet everyone was either confused or rolling their eyes.

I arrived at the conclusion that a catastrophic event is highly probable due to the sheer number of unsolved bugs that are floating around in the game. Since the release of warband system there has been lots of unsolved bugs and at some point, there will be a point where the system breaks if left unchecked.

Currently no one at the office is capable of fixing these issues, therefore it’s time to welcome the new and out with the old. You can’t just ignore these bugs, they need to be addressed before it’s out of control.

Not if but when the catastrophic event happens, all that can be done is to rollback the servers to a safe time in the past (similar to system restore). It will be ugly and many players will be unhappy and the issues will still be unsolved, but you can rollback to a past timeframe.

I assume the title thing is happening due to rep becoming account wide. It will be an ongoing process as they have mentioned before to work backwards through old reps. I’m sure there is a lot to unravel with that.

Yeah it was wild. SoD players in AQ gear 1 shotting fresh players with their WotLK toolkits. But the worst part was that people were able to buy boons for 20s. Quests that shouldn’t be in anniversary also could be shared. It had the potential to absolutely wreak havoc on the economy.

Fortunately players reporting gold trades and things like spell rank tomes were fake news. But still, Blizzard had a lot of clean up to do. Could have required a rollback if items were able to be traded.

Meh, there’s still a lot of presumptions to get to that conclusion but… that’s always the case when attempting to predict the future. It definitely doesn’t look great and I see where you’re coming from.

Hopefully it doesn’t happen, but it is surely possible. Maybe soon they will start to fix things in a timely manner so that player’s trust can be restored. Thats all I can really hope for. My expectations are minimal lol.

Probably not. Most of the time you get bugs on actual patches.

Still though I always login to a trash alt first just so any login scripts run. Early in TWW weekly quests sometimes didn’t reset for the first toon you logged into so once I learned from the sheeple trying to world first complete the weekly quests and got burned and cried over it, I did the smart thing and login to a toon that “if” it happened to I wouldn’t care.

I also loot my vaults later typically and my DK last. I also do not want to take advantage of any “exploit early” nonsense because I know that as soon as I do join the tryhard herd and do it that’ll be the time Blizzard decides to make examples out of people. Not mythic raiding tryhards of course or at least the actual good/skilled ones in orgs that are in bed with Blizzard

Unfortunately I don’t think they do roll backs anymore. Five months ago players lost millions of items and they didn’t do anything:

So you listed off some “fluff” minor bugs that aren’t really too disruptive, for example this post is the very first time I’ve ever heard about “the world being slightly off-center” in some dungeon somewhere… like, that’s the type of thing that’s sooooo minor/sooooo obscure I wouldn’t have even known about it (…much less noticed it) until opening this thread a few minutes ago

How about the truly devastating bugs that wiped out years of player progress/investment that are still not fixed since July 2024?? Guild banks bug was pretty brutal, reputation reset and honor level reset bugs are similarly harsh since they instantly wiped out years of player progress and time-investment (depending)

There’s an active/ongoing Warbands transfer bug where large quantities of currency/items can “suddenly disappear” when making a Warbands character-to-character transfer. There’s literally a thread in the bugs forum from a guy who lost 3 million+ gold while making a Warbands transfer. As far as I know he has never gotten his gold back or been made whole

^^^ THOSE are the kinds of bugs that irk me the most… a minor “title spam everytime I log in” bug is fairly trivial in my opinion, a minor nuisance at best

But the bugs that wipe out YEARS of player investment?? Those specific post-TWW bugs have been absolutely devastating, almost all of them still unfixed with the affected players still not made whole

A lot of the “bugs” the OP listed are caused by addons and have nothing to do with the game.

The OP is acccidentally correct though, in that the game is in the worst shape it’s been in in many years, and TWW has had gamebreaking bugs that outright deleted banks and player progress.

It’s more important to remove Rapture and Hunter pets than make a quality product. Obviously.

Not everyone has been experiencing these bugs. I know I haven’t.

Don’t forget how they seem to have plenty of “resources” to crank out fancy shop mounts (cough $90 Brutosaur cough) on the regular, while claiming they don’t have the resources or man-power to fix live bugs in the game since July 2024

And even after they make big profits off of said $90 mounts, the active/ongoing bugs in the game still don’t get fixed

Even the trivial bugs have consequences for the community. I have a friend who is an on/off wow player for 20 years. He tried TWW, got to 80 and quit mostly because he kept running into so many bugs. None that outright broke the game or cost him anything, but enough to make the game feel like a low quality 3rd party creation. It’s just off-putting for casual players.

It’s not as simple as updating addons and most bugs are gone, players for the most part know better and keep their addons up to date, after all it takes less than 10 seconds to do so. The list of bugs is growing with each software update applied to the game and there will be a point of no return because there isn’t someone at the office capable of fixing any of it right now. They need to hire new talent and out with the old talent simple as that.
