New UI system

When the new UI system will be a good thing? We can’t remove what we don’t want. All we can do is move or change sizes.

Yes, you can.

Blizzard decided from Day 1 in original WoW that you could modify the UI in any number of ways.

You simply find a user-written addon that does what you want.

The ability to do that is part of the UI - not some hack applied after the fact.

Addons are not attached to the UI system bro. When blizzard change to the “edit mode” at least have to make some more options to edit. This is just a “move mode”.

  1. I’m not your “bro”.

  2. Addons written by the user community were always part of Blizzard’s strategy for dealing with player UI needs outside of what the (punitively poorly designed) stock UI offered.

The options you have for further edit all involve user-written addons.

Of course u don’t. It should at least have the option for “edition” without addons lol. Any other mmo have a complete UI system.

  1. Says who? Blizzard has always left further modification up to the user community.
  2. Go play one of them then.

pretty obvious he means the default ui, sans addons, but keep ignoring the obvious.

and he has a point. up till now i didnt overly care about the default ui (still dont really) and just used mods to make it how i wanted it.

some people dont want addons, which is fine, a game really should not need them to work. they should just add some extra shine to it.

edit mode crosses that line. its actually letting you customise the default ui now - but (and its a big but) - blizzard have only done a half arsed job of it, as it only applies to certain parts of the ui, its not consistent, and parts are blatantly missing.

if i didnt know any better i’d say they ran out of budget and just stopped development, presuming the annoyed user base would cover up their unfinished job with a shiny addon that actually does the job properly. which has happened, and probably saved blizzard a fair amount of money.

Suspect it was more time than budget related.

I suspect it’s part of a long-term move to migrate WoW off the PC/Mac platforms and onto consoles exclusively.

They’ve been edging towards console play for quite a while and there’s a ton of unimplemented and partially implemented code in the client stuff now about it.

From a “console only” perspective, it’s a huge win.

Blizzard isn’t about to tell their base that this is their motive, but given the utter crap level of quality in the effort with regards to integration with long extant addons it seems to be a move in that direction.

Add to that what has looked to me like a small army of anti-addon shills in the forums over the past six months to a year and I’d bet money that’s what’s going on.

Wrong. It’s straight to mobile with wow.

Do you guys not have phones?
