New UI is too clunky

Is anyone else highly annoyed with the new UI? I find it annoying as all hell that the Dungeon finder is literally stuck in place of where MOST people put their action bars. Now we have to wait for addons to move it out of the way? Like really? Why Blizzard? It makes zero sense to put a button right where most players arrange their hotkeys. Speaking of Hotkeys… the remapping of hot keys is not very user friendly and their is no simple way to edit hotkey for each hotbar? Everyone seems to be irritated right off the bat and I am feeling it just being back in game for a matter of two days. Its really disheartening to be promised a UI that’s going to help dimish the use of addons only to allow it to be a giant mess. PleasePleasePleasePleasePlease stop releasing content before you have worked out allll of the kinks. I’d personally rather see the team fleshout a full UI thats truely user-friendly than a clunk of new icons and artistic styles… The profession rework looks horrible as well compared to what we had before. I feel like the game is almost irriversably scrxwed at this point…
I feel its going to far to try and cater to everyone with some of the things you were aiming for with the introduction of Dragonflight.

Please others help me come to some so understanding with this mess.

  1. Go into Edit Mode.
  2. Click on an action bar.
  3. Click on Quick Keybind Mode.

Blizzard’s primary design constraint seems to be “We’ll give them what they say they want, but in a way that won’t be what they want.”

That’s about the best description of the situation I can come up with.

Not poking the bear, but I really love the new UI. It actually maps pretty closely to what I have used for years. There are things it can’t handle the way I like, for example, I use Sorted for my inventory, NeatPlates and other things. But the new UI has also vastly reduced the number of poorly written, non-performant addons I have to use.

It seems there was a lack of UX knowledge behind the design of this new UI. Everything is clunkier to use, the panels require more clicks than the last iteration (profession UI is the worst culprit), a lot of customizable raid frame functionality was removed (very sad as a healer), contrast and accessibility was not considered, there is more scrolling for information that used to be condensed at a glance, I could go on. Things are just not as useable or readable.

One example - the clunky new group finder eyeball not only doesn’t look like anything else in the interface, is pixelated, flashes and wiggles too much when nothing is going on, and now is not in a highly visible place, despite the fact that there is so much space around the mini map now. When you click on it the hover tooltip text overlaps the text options you need to click because both parts of the text go up instead of down.

Someone at Blizzard needs to hire new (or some) UX designers and if they already have good ones, let them do their job instead of higher-ups who Frankenstein design it and tell them what to do (know this happens from experience lol). Increased customization does not always mean it is done in a smart way.

I made a lengthy thread on the beta forums a few weeks back about all of this, but I hope they see the amount of complaints (particularly about the profession UI). This is the first time I’ve wanted to use add-ons to make the game more usable visually and functionally, but many of them are also clunky and poorly designed.

the only thing that is noticed is the subscription numbers.

theres an entire user base out there that will write up a UI mod just to cover up the half (if that) finished attempt that is the new UI, all for free. whats not to love.

its a step in the right direction, but its still beta level and does not appear to have had any proper UX compliance/testing done on it at all. if it has they should hire some other people.

i mean how can you add a so called “mini” map that large and not even bother to provide a scale option… im sure it will come in a hotfix but again, half baked comes to mind.

i personally like the large minimap due to vision issues and i used an addon to scale it up previously, but thats just me. theres loads of people out there that i know wont want it that large, and its not like its super hard to scale an entire frame.
