We initially had Torghast, with a timer. People complained and Blizz removed timer because it felt horrible.
Now, we have timer too, again. Because timer is important for “scoring” high. But scoring in general just sucks. Even if you do a great clear you don’t necessarily get a high score, and that’s because scoring is determined by a bunch of really weird arbitrary things that have nothing to do with anything.
Like not picking the same power twice, or not forgetting that one hidden vase somewhere, or stacking 5x of some power, etc.
These are things that not only are just annoying to try and achieve in a run, but I need to have a spreadsheet next to me so I can make sure I check the boxes otherwise there goes flawless, and there goes bonus level, and there goes a lot of wasted time and effort.
Why? I really just wanna jump in and smash stuff and have fun, but these things are just annoyances that get in the way of that. Why did we revert to a “timer” Torghast even though this was removed due to excessive feedback when it was first introduced?
Argh matey.

I’ve read your post twice and I’m having a hard time finding the “objectivity” you’re trying to show, all I’m getting is your opinion.

It was designed to become another e-sport feature so it’s not surprising it is what it is currently.

What lvl is your cube. Cause its quite easy score max score taking your time. Just use buff to clear trash and its a piece of cake. U dont even need to speed run or care about the timer

Many people are such snowflakes that they think that if they feel a certain way then thats the way it is. Therefore everyone else must agree

The new tour gas is incredibly easy to get a flawless run on. You don’t need to go fast and and you are absolutely able to miss things. You can take the same power over and over. All you have to do is maximize your empowerment window. And doing a huge amount of DPS while obliterating tons of monsters is exactly what maximizing your empowerment window is

It’s fine. People are allowed to have opinions and the like. And I think going in we knew this wasn’t going to be an actual objective proving of whether Torghast was worse or not. So it’s fine.

The timer really isnt all that relevant. What matters more is properly utilizing the empowered buff, not dying and clearing/doing everything on each floor (if you’re trying for flawless runs). Otherwise, Torghast is the same, if not better because of the addition of the talents

I’ve been neglecting it so my cube is woefully behind. I imagine it will simply get easier for me as I flesh out all those points. Which means I need to put the time in.

Torghast is just one of those things blizz puts in that I look at and go…nope! I then make a mental note to go a back and get all the achieves and collectibles in 10.0 when it’s actually playable, if I’m still around. Same deal with horrific visions.

You will be glad to know that dungeons and raids will be removed next expac in favor of Torghast only style solo and group content for gearing.
Best part of Torghast is when you finish with a 199 and your failure was because you missed a maw rat on Floor 2.
Spoiler alert: It is ‘actually playable’ right now.
My gut says that there are not going to be Torghast run competitions recorded and declared the best Torghast players in the world. Although, anything is possible.
False.
The timer is absolutely meaningless for scoring high, unless you are managing to spend 4 hours in there or something.
i didnt like it from start like many others it did make me quit logging in with a few other reasons. the place was trash and still is trash if they really wanted to make next patch good they would totally ditch it or at least not have legendaries tyed to them.
Torghast has been the highest rated and most voted beloved content by a strong majority of players. So much so it will be the primary gearing content in future expacs.
Lmao, I feel this. The day this happens though is the day I quit.
Don’t hold me to it though.
I am 200 points away from my last upgrade and I cannot wait to say goodbye to Torghast. I’m dreading the hour and some I still have to go.
When done I will celebrate by doing Brewfest!!
Woot
Correct. This is the real problem. The bonuses should be a cushion for mistakes. If you never die, and full clear in a reasonable time, “many of those floor timers are anything but reasonable, my druid had a 1 minute 41 second timer which would be literally impossible to full clear in that time,”(No trash floor with just some mawrats and tons of traps and jars in a T formation) THAT should be 200 points. Bonuses should just be there to make up for dying or being VERY slow.
