We warned you! When they messed with our water striders, a few of us went on for days about the precedent being set. We were mostly ignored. And here we are again. Something else being taken away outright for some new “system”. When does the majority get upset about having their stuff taken away from them?
No insult intended, but it doesn’t bother me. MMORPGs are evolving games, and things change as they must.
It doesn’t really bother me.
I was pretty indifferent about the water strider and towards mount equipment too. Hell, I don’t even know where to get mount equipment from. That’s how much I care.
I assume we are talking about the heirloom changes here right?
I get that and change is good. But why does change have to come at the expense of invalidating previous efforts? It doesn’t. It’s just easier and they now know they can get away with it.
Yes we did. I hate to say we told you so…
They need to give back the gold spent on them.
I personally never used heirlooms. For me it has always been Dungeon blues/Quest items/Epics > Heirlooms.
I don’t know either really. Some professions make them I guess? It’s another failed system no one cares about implemented at the expense of removing a reputation reward that we specifically worked for and wanted and earned.
The game needs to change. Not everyone will like those changes when they happen, but the current subscriber base won’t keep the game afloat forever.
That, or maybe the removal of Pathfinder for WoD and Legion.
If you care about effort being invalidated why even bring up water striders?
You still have to do the same things you did to get the water strider to get the mount equipment that lets you walk on water. But now you can apply it to any mount instead of just the bug.
People with the water strider had a MASSIVE advantage over people who didn’t, so do people with heirlooms. Massive advantage.

The water strider thing i agree with, they didnt need o take away the water walking part of it, was a silly move. The heirloom change though, i dont have an issue with.
Also, you can get the mount equipment from the AH, professions make them, not sure which does what. I used the one on my mounts that give me an extra 20% move speed, so i like it.
I get that frustration, but sometimes things change.
Best you can do is talk here about it, which you’re doing, or tell Blizzard what you think with your wallet.
I hated the water strider actually, so no worries here.
But they haven’t outright removed them, they just repurposed it. In place of the water strider we got equipment to let all mounts water walk. Heirlooms are losing exp, but they still work as scaling gear and are getting a new effect that’s sure to be useful too.
In both cases it was a trade off. Understandably not everyone’s happy, but it seems fair to me and Blizz has given good reasons for doing it. Change is normal.
I’m doing the wallet part and the talking part. My sub is up in about two weeks and I’m just letting it lapse. I’ve been at this game for a long time and I’m not gonna pretend I won’t be back for Shadowlands to at least try. But until then, no more money from me. And I’m one of those players who pays for race changes and transfers pretty regularly. But oh well whatever I guess.
The thing is, those of you with the water strider can still get the water equipment REALLY CHEAP from Nat Pagle… the rest of us have to pay huge amounts of gold. So there is still your advantage.
And yes, as Asana says, they are adding a new feature to Heirlooms, why don’t you all wait and see what that even is before you scream bloody murder and storm the Blizzard offices to burn it down (seriously don’t ever do that, I’m mentioning that as a metaphor,) huh?
Hmm. I haven’t really come to a conclusion on the heirlooms. I mean, I get why they are changing, but I did dump a bit of gold on upgrading them.
Pathfinder going away for previous expansions is a great move. I put my effort into getting them all while they were current and have no issues with it being removed as a requirement for flight in trivial content.
well I’m not screaming this time. I’m already exasperated from round one when we lost the strider battle. I should be able to apply that 20% mount speed or no daze or whatever to my strider without losing my strider’s innate ability. Because I did dailies and fished for what felt like an eternity at the time to earn that. I shouldn’t have to choose between them, not on that mount. I wonder how everyone will react when your longbois lose their auctioneer
Whatever makes sense man. However it ends up I wish ya the best.
I will laugh so hard when this happens. The tears will be epic. I had the gold to buy it but I don’t trust Blizzard. I will never buy another mount for real money or one from rep.
