Hey there, I decided to recently start tanking after playing a healer for the longest time, I’ve been getting more and more serious about dungeoning and raiding but I find myself having a recent issue. Most of the time, as a healer, I had a pretty basic way to heal. I followed my rotations, used macros to hover over people and heal, and didn’t stand in stuff I wasn’t supposed to. But as a Tank I am playing in a completely different realm of expertise, and find myself unsure what to do when facing certain dungeons.
I was wondering if there was an addon that could track your progress through a dungeon and give me fast access to things like Dungeon Guides, that way as we fight trash mobs I can take the time to read through boss fights without having to alt tab to go to wowhead, and possibly put my team at a disadvantage, as well as maybe show me pathing, as that has been an issue in some of the older, less straight forward dungeons, where I just get lost or pull unnecessary packs.
I already run, H.H.T.D. and DBM, I just want something that kinda shows me what to expect so I don’t wipe to a boss because I didn’t know I couldn’t interrupt a move, or turn the boss away from my DPS.
Method dungeon tools shows you the position of all mobs and bosses and their forces percent contribution (in M+ mode). It also shows some basic information like health and you can right click on any mob on the map to see its abilities and more detailed info.
You can use this addon to plan your routes by selecting what packs you want for percent and drawing arrows/lines on the map, such as how you want to use the obelisks in +10 and above.

In addition to the above advice, I would wholeheartedly recommend nameplates for enemies. With most of these addons, they’ll change colour depending on your threat levels. A tool that does help in learning to grab threat from all party members.
Naturally, DBM and Weakauras that focus on dungeon mechanics do help.
A weakaura is available that tracks the healer’s mana%, and when they’re eating.

I came here to say a nameplate addon too as soon as I read the title then reading your op was going to say MDT (method dungeon tool) but looks like I was too slow on both accounts lol so +1 to those guys.
Also with weak auras there are great dungeon packs that will help with mechanics and timings of things on trash that dbm doesn’t do.
Another general addon that is great is gtfo (get the…out) it just beeps at you when standing in aoe. It’s remarkably handy because it will tell you about cleaves etc for next time too since many of them are dodge able.

Oh, good call!
I forgot about GTFO!
Yeah, that one’s fantastic for every player, but especially tanks!
The plates help so much in making sure you have agro. And when for some reason, a mob is hitting someone else, it shows in a different colour that indicates that you’ve not got it’s attention.

Didn’t Questionably Epic have an add-on that displayed a small info pane about whatever mob you were targeting? I can’t for the life of me remember what its called but it helped a lot when I was trying to learn the dungeons and figure out what mobs were really dangerous and what casts needed to be interrupted and all that junk.
I know MDT can show this but there’s a difference between reading about it all at the start of a dungeon vs targeting a Matron in Underrot and it telling you then and there to get out of the cleave and soothe the enrage.

There’s a WeakAura for real time pull % that I’m super fond of. I usually go in with a plan that gets blown to shreds by someone being careless about where they choose to stand. I keep track of breakpoints and the WeakAura tells me what we’ll be at when the current pull is over so I know if I should pull something nearby before a boss or not.

Oh, that sounds awesome!
I’ll have to keep an eye out for that, and the add-on above.

It’s called “Pull Percent” if I’m not mistaken. Shows count before the pull and after and seems to be programmed for Teeming because I’ve never had an issue with it. I also have a plater profile that puts the count over the nameplate which is super handy in these on the fly moments.
