Good day to all my rogue friends, it is the first time that I will be trying the rogue class and was wondering which spec as the easier time to solo pve content (open world, Delves ect…)
Pick a spec.
All of them have their problems so pick whichever one you like best. Sub is probably the least annoying.
Outlaw would be good except you lose adrenaline rush because you’ll be stuck out of stealth due to combat bugs or looting or doing basically anything except that one random time you’ll perform an action that doesn’t drop stealth. And if you have no AR up it can feel painful to play.
Assassination and sub have their own energy issues outside of CDs, but sub has CDs up more often.
All are just fine doing delves and solo content. I find outlaw the most engaging in open world, as you don’t have to have your cool-downs going to do whatever you like. AR feels good while it’s going but you don’t need it. No matter what spec tho, stealth after every mob to make each of the specs do what they do best. (Except sub, ironically. Stealth not that important.)
Best advice I’d give is don’t follow a guide for a while, until you e got the gist of most of the talents. Try them all, find what you like, figure out how its talents interact. And once you know what it likes to do, then you could check a guide if you feel like doing more dofficult group content. But no matter what, any talent on any spec will be enough for your solo and delve needs.
Try all three specs and then pick one to to go deeper in understanding.
Easiest- whichever you’re best at
That being said, in open world questing, sub has a leg up over outlaw and assassination, and that’s that you won’t rely on restealthing.
In delves, again, whichever you’re best at. Brann counts as a party member so you can restealth to proc subterfuge or to spread garrotes/ruptures.
I have been playing Outlaw lately for open world and delves… specifically the Trickster talent that allows your Tricks of the Trade to be up for an hour on Bran… it’s value is substantial in Delves, imo.
Outlaw also seems to have the lowest base skill level to still perform semi optimally.
Sub could be fun but I absolutely hate managing short cd self buffs, Symbols of Death is in my opions th worst kind of talent… it is annoying to keep track of and it does not feel reward to press in a combat. I literally took a long break from Rogue until they baked Slice and DIce into the rotation for everyone.
Also, Subs AoE is so disconnected from its normal roation and it feels like playing a diffferent toon half the time.
I do like Assasination but the ramp up time is far too tedious for outdoor and delves… plus they do not have access to the Trickster talent to keep TotT up for an hour.
Good luck with the class!
This opinion comes from a misunderstanding of the other 2 specs. Outlaw always wants to be pressing buttons whereas Sin and Sub don’t. Sin has heavy energy pooling requirements, and Sub judt works best when youre using as many CDs as possible together.
Not pressing a button on those specs actually does mean youre playing semi optimally.
I have to agree. I end up pressing it with Dance anyway so sometimes I’m like why does it even need to be separate.
This one’s a me problem but I hate casting symbols without Dance and I just kill stuff too fast outdoors and end on half a dance and then I end up waiting longer
