i’ve geared 3 alts so far this season and haven’t set foot in a battelground
For what it’s worth, if you stick with it for maybe a few short hours you can probably be 635-ish PvP ilvl, and things might start to feel different for you.

World quests give 100 bloody tokens per quest, bloody tokens can be used to buy 636ilvl pvp gear. In conjunction with completing the Sparks weekly quest (1k bloody tokens reward), that should be good for an EASY 4 or 5 pieces of 636 pvp gear.

You’ll get a quest reward upon winning your first BG that has BoP materials you can use to craft 3 639 PvP items (neck, ring x2). If you’re broke on buying the other mats I can help you.

Quests in Ashran and Wintergrasp both give out a solid chunk of Conquest for extremely little time or effort.

Lastly, just knocking out Comp Stomp brawl is another easy 150+ Conq (w/ the “Something Different” quest).
As much as starting out undergeared might suck, its ridiculously fast and easy to put yourself very close to even with many other people youll see in BGs. And like I said, if you’re broke or just need some help banging out quests, let me know.
Also, while the combo of learning to PvP while also undergeared at the same time can feel crappy, gear isn’t the be all end all - there are plenty of players out there who could be in full AH greens and dunk all over me and my 638s due to superior experience and game knowledge.

You can gear through world PvP and it’s probably the fastest way to gear currently, especially starting out. Between the war crates and assassin bounties, just focusing on those will net you conquest, honor, and bloody tokens. You get just one win in any rated pvp and you will get a quest that lets you craft another couple pieces.
Do the sparks quests and some world quests with WM turned on for bloody tokens to get some free 636 gear which helps a lot in evening the playing field.
Also the best way to grind honour if you want to zone out is just do epic BG’s while watching something on the other screen. It’ll take a bit but it’s next to no input from you and it’s better than getting stomped in by some greasy loser in his elite set showing off in randoms (me).
Pvp community > pve community. We keep it real.

We just did this. Got his sparks weekly knocked out along with the pvp wqs for bloody tokens while q’ing randoms for weekly. Actually a cool dude, just came back to wow after bout 10yrs - everything totally foreign lol.
