New to Monk. Question about Black Ox Statue

Okay, I was playing around with this today (as Windwalker) and it seems to generate very little threat. I saw the bit “You may cast Provoke on the statue to taunt all enemies near the statue” and I tried that out – targeted the statue, cast provoke, saw the spell go off … and nothing. Not a single mob was drawn off me back to the statue.

The only time it seems to gain aggro at all is when I first drop it, and then I can pull off it in two or three GCDs.

What am I doing wrong?

Got it backwards. The statue pulses a taunt, like a pet, and if you target it and taunt, it will cast an aoe taunt to YOU. (So, defeats the purpose as anything other than brwm)

I havent tried it but i bet dave (black ox statue) for ww is probably good for questing. See a node you wanna gather next to a mob? Statue down, gather and run away.

Ah, thanks. That wasn’t clear to me at all. Still, it doesn’t seem to be generating much threat compared to an Earth Elemental or Hunter or Warlock pet.

There is no better taunting ability, in game, better than the Black Ox Statue since it was introduced back in MoP.

You can place it at a 20 yard radius every 10 second and taunt your statue to gather every mob in that radius every 10 seconds.

No tank gathers mobs better than the brewmaster. They have not touched it since it was introduced because it’s absolutely perfect and balance.

Don’t disagree with the sentiment, but there was one change- they removed the bubble it would proc on party members on damage thresholds. That function was so slick, it made sense to have it removed.

Disagree. Sometimes I Tankweave on MW with the statue. Only Heroics and Normal though lmao. Need those runes.
