Raid or Dungeons? (Sorry I don’t PvP)

In Raid, your “Oh Snap” button is the Resto Shaman… (or other Healers). If you’re Kyrian then Divine Toll will get 5 players (remember to pop Rule of Law) and you can follow it up with LoD HS LoD onto the Melee group.

In a 5 man, try running Beacon of Virtue. In ideal situations, Glimmer is better, but how many players run with ideal groups? Beacon of Virtue will allow you to very quickly heal your group back to full, especially if you’ve got 5 HP ready to go when you cast it.

Aura Mastery is a great DR, but if the damage has already happened, at best it might keep a few people alive for a few more seconds if they don’t get a heal. Wings is awesome for throughput, but in the situation you’ve described (entire group taking massive damage) it doesn’t give you a burst AOE like say a Shamans Ascendance.

Then you have Light of the Martyr. Holy Shocks on CD, you don’t have HP ready to go, can’t hit anything, can’t stop to cast, then just Martyr to keep folks alive till HS etc is available.

I’m venthyr. Is that bad

Depends on what you’re doing… or what you want to achieve.

Top Mythic Raiders have been running Venthyr Holy Paladins, but because they co-ordinate the ability to do massive damage and healing. It’s not really recommended for your average player.

That being said, all Covenants are “viable” just some are less optimal.
In the case of Holy Paladins, Divine Toll does fill a needed niche of on demand burst AoE, which synergises well with Talents, Legendaries and gives you a solid 5 HP… it’s also on a 1 min CD compared to 4 minutes for Venthyr.

While I’m quite against how much better Divine Toll is over the other abilities, in M+ you can make up for it with good Beacon of Virtue use and planning. I haven’t used Ashen Hollow myself, but so long as you time it’s usage and don’t waste it on generic trash packs, you’ll be fine.

Holy Paladin Healing is all about knowing when to use your CD’s… and by extension, when to NOT use them so you have them available.

Some bosses are incredibly easy to heal so you may be more liberal with your CD’s to speed up Trash ahead of them. Maybe you use Wings on Prideful right before an easy boss.
Other bosses have real healing (and DPS) checks, so you wouldn’t want to blow all your CD’s on the Prideful add unless it was going to prevent a wipe.
Same thing in Raids, keeping an eye on boss timers and knowing what abilities you want CD’s for is a big part of Holy Paladin.

I hear ya. I really like glimmer though for the last talent. I’ll play around with it

Glimmer does a lot of passive healing (and damage) but it doesn’t save lives.

As someone who plays a Resto Druid, Holy Paladin and Resto Shaman, I liken glimmer to my Druid’s HoT’s. If I keep them ticking away, they do plenty of passive healing, but they wont heal through avoidable damage or certain boss abilities alone. Glimmer is the same, it wont bring your whole party back to full if they keep eating avoidable damage in the face.

Group damage usually comes in predictable waves, so if your group manages to avoid all avoidable damage, Glimmer, (like HOT’s) will heal them back up. If they don’t avoid everything, you need to top them up before they stand in the fire again and die. That’s where Beacon of Virtue comes in.

Holy Paladin is one of the healers that works best whenever you are familiar with encounters and can plan your cooldowns around it. But generally speaking…

LoH can be reduced to 7 minutes with the Unbreakable Spirit Talent. It’s a fair chunk of a 10 minute window but yes I’m aware that’s still long. That Unbreakable Spirit Talent also affects your Divine Protection and Divine Shield Spells which gives you far more cushion, after all, you don’t have to heal damage you aren’t taking.

Blessing of Sacrifice and Blessing of Protection are incredibly powerful when you know when to use them, Dps has a spicy bleed or a fixate or taking too much threat? BoP them baby! Blessing of Sacrifice can be a bit scary with the damage redirection but.

  1. You take said damage at 25% reduced effectiveness.
  2. You can use your Divine Shield (3.5 min cd w/ Unbreakable Spirit) and Divine Proection (42 sec cd w/ Unbreakable Spirit) to mitigate the damage you take.

I used beacon of virtue last night and loved it. It helped so much with group damage.

Healing is so much easier as Kyrian, even though its a grind I would certainly give it a shot if I was you. If they nerf DT at any point I’ll probably be back on my shaman healing

So pvp do I want to be in peoples faces crusader striking?

From my understanding it’s very dependent on how aggressive your group is being, if you are being trained absolutely use it for the Hpower generation but generally from what I’ve seen from arena play you still play rather ranged unless committing to helping your team with a kill.
