New to Ele and Shamans in general (especially at max level and had some questions

To start off with some easy questions:

  1. I will ask about stat priority. From what I can tell it goes:
    Int>Crit>Haste>Vers>Mastery
Can anybody confirm or deny that and give scenarios where it may be different?

  2. Azerite Traits:
I am trying for 3x Igneous Potential and 3x Natural Harmony but is that viable for M+ as well or should I try to sneak in a Tectonic Thunder trait?
Basically what are the BiS Traits for Ele shamans at the moment?

  3. Azerite Essences:
    I am hoping on running:
Raid: Major - Condensed Life Force Minor - CoF and Focusing Iris
    M+: Major - Focusing Iris - Minor - CoF, C&S
I was wondering if Iris or C&S would be better raid minor (haste or vers) or what are the BiS essences

  4. Talents/Rotation:
    I am looking for clarification one a few things;
    I am currently running 60 - MotE 90 - Icefury - 100 - Stormkeeper
When buffed with MotE what is my priority spells after a lava blast?
I assume it is Earth Shock/Earthquake depending on how many mobs I am fighting but after that it gets tricky.
Do I launch an Icefury followed by another lava blast and then burn my frost shocks? Do I use Stormkeeper and launch lightning bolts? Does MotE + stormkeeper + chain lightning as opposed to MotE + Earthquake followed by stormkeeper chain lightnings?

These are all thr questions boggling through my head while figuring out how to play Ele and I was wondering if you guys could help me out.

Thanks a bunch!

1- stats weigh vary a lot depending on your talent, trait and gear, simming yourself on raidbots will give you a idea of what stat you need the most, but in general you aim highest ilvl while trying to avoid mastery, cant really do that with rings since they don’t have primary stats.

I would just sim myself on raidbots to see if the item i got is a upgrade or not.

2- You want to aim 3 IP trait since its pretty huge for Ele on single target, NH is pretty good all around, so yeah you will be fine with that build for keys, You can sneak up a thunder in there too for fortified week.

Look up Bloodmallet to give you a idea what traits/essences/trinkets are the best atm.

3- Looking up bloodmallet will help here too. In general Big rock major, minor C&S and Flame for Raid. M+ would be Iris major, minor C&S and Flame or Blood of the enemy.

4- For the rotation part, all the info can be found on stormearthandlava, its a ele website with good info on it.

In short look up Bloodmallet, Stormearthandlava and the shaman discord to get all the info you need to pump on the ele and sims a lot to properly itemize yourself.

Hope it helps

1.) in m+ yes that’s generally going to be a loose stat prio, vers may have more weight to it in a raid setting but for all around play you can’t go wrong with crit. sim yourself.

2.) 3xIP 3xNH for pure ST, you can swap some of the NH for LS (lava shock) for funneling damage on spread cleave, and TT is a trap trait (outside very specific circumstances) and typically isn’t worth dropping an IP for. Overwhelming Power as with any caster is also very powerful.

3.) for Raid you’re spot on, the deciding factor between C&S and Iris (assuming both rank three) as your second minor in raid comes down to personal gear and varies per person so sim yourself (for most though it ends up being C&S). For m+ you can swap CoF for PP (purification protocol) if you have it at rank three. There’s another setup for keys that uses bote major but Iris is easier for newcomers to any spec.

4.) As was said above, stormearthandlava[dot]com, and google for the Earthshrine discord. To answer some of those questions, the thing that trips up people most being new to MOTE is thinking that you absolutely need to weave every single spell. Your real objective is to never cap on LvB charges, and buff what you can from there. This is to say don’t sit on anything to try to buff it with LvB if you have no LvB charges, nor should you sit at 2x LvB charges with a surge trying to weave every other spell. There’s a priority list on the site for MOTE usage as well. And unless you’re funneling EQ over ES starts at two stacked targets.

  1. Int > Versatility > Critical Strike > Haste > Mastery

  2. Aim for x3 Igneous (x2 minimum, single target) and x3 Natural Harmony (x2 is good, single & multi target). Tectonic Thunder simmed lower than Natural Harmony.

  3. For raid, I use: Condensed Life Force (Major); Crucible of Flames and Worldvein Resonance (minors). That’s the best simming combo for me still, based off Icy Veins.

I don’t bother to switch out for Mythic Plus variance. It’s work and annoyance to run to the Heart Chamber to switch out.

  1. Priority after Lava Blast: Lightning Bolt (empowered by Stormkeeper; OR Earth Shock/Earthquake (depending on the circumstance); OR Frost Shock (empowered by Icefury); or Lightning Bolt/Chain Lighting or Icefury - whichever does more raw damage and based on the circumstance at that second, in descending order.

There’s a lot of variables you’re asking here that requires you to have some familiar with the spec. My qualitative answer is: If you’re single targeting, stick to empowering single target attacks. If you’re multi targeting, stick to empowering those attacks.

You can do all of those things that you mentioned above. Earth Shock/Earthquake are just Maelstrom dump abilities. Both are affected by Master of the Elements. As an opener, if on a timer, by 4 sec.: cast Stormkeeper, by 2 sec.: cast Lava Burst, followed up by Flame Shock (saves a global cd) > Fire Elemental/Storm Elemental > Condensed Life Force (necklace) > Lightening Bolt > Lava Burst > Lightning Bolt > Earth Shock > Icefury, then go into rotation/priority. Your burst dps will be incredible. If you need more dps, add in Earth Elemental and pre-pot.

You might want to look into MaxDPSShaman add-on and WeakAuras to help you DPS. MaxDPSShaman just tells you what ability to use based on your talent selection. WeakAuras to keep track of timers and stacks.

You can change essences in any rest area and the beginning of pvp matches. No need to go to the chamber.

Easy amswer is always sim your gear. Takes minutes.

Purely out of curiosity, why did you ask this here? I mean you could literally google/youtube a multitude of guides that would answer these questions in minutes. Instead you take the time and effort to type all of it out and wait for people to reply and read through all the info that was already available. /shrug

Because it’s the shaman forum, lose the attitude

It would seem you are the one with an attitude as i was neither unkind nor insulting in any way shape or form. Thanks for participating though and have a great day!

because guides are generic, i wanted to ask my own personal questions to a people who are confident enough to respond on a shaman forum
