New Tinker Class would make WoW more immersive

See now you’re giving ideas

I’d focus more on the bubble aspect than the self heal part though since already have tanks who focus mostly on self healing but none that focus entirely on damage prevention

Would the mech be a cooldown or be their permanent form (or something worgen style where they can run around without it but forced into it in combat)

You could also give them a talent (or cd) that would make their turrets upgrade for a short period or permanently to have little legs to follow the player around but deal reduced damage, just so their dps isnt 0 during movement phases

I mean a tinker is a pretty broad concept since it encapsulates the entire steampunk nature of WoW that Engineering barely scrapes the surface on.

So some examples:

You could have mech-suits, either complete (like bosses like Blackfuse or Mekkatorque used) or partial, like what Gazlowe from HotS uses.

https://heroesofthestorm.com/en-us/heroes/gazlowe/

You could have specs based around bombs, turrets, lasers. All sorts of offensive gadgets.

You could have a healer spec based around actual medicine and gadgets like forcefields or bandage guns in place of nature and crap like that.

Unlike Necromancer or Bard, Tinker is unique among the fan-favourite classes because it already has an extremely solid representation in WoW with there being an absolute metric crapton of characters that would largely fall under the tinker banner and it doesn’t step on any toes since no class is technology based, with every single class that currently exists being either martial or magical or a mix of the two.

Honestly it’s completely weird that classes as a whole basically completely ignore technology.

Not a single class in the game uses mundane technology despite how ridiculously widespread it is. Every single class either uses magic or swords or a mix of the two.

Players are basically luddites.

Better idea add a tinkerer spec to hunters.

Oh yea don’t get me wrong, Tinker (still hate the name though) is way better than most class concepts but the entire idea itself isn’t fully fleshed out yet in game or lorewise

So I like these threads more when people get their ideas out on various ways they could work cuz well Tinker inventions and thoughts lol

Tailor class when??

I think the lack of mobility on turrets should be a weakness of the class.

Classes needs checks and balances to keep things relevant in PvE and PvP.
I’m thinking a major cooldown that forcibly warps all turrets to you. 3ish minutes

And for a DPS cooldown, they should totally have the “Pocket Factory”

It should duplicate every turret you place for a short time. Resulting in ludicrous numbers.

But those turrets should have timed life.

This wouldnt adequately represent blizzards idea for the class

So a stealth class that shoots bandages and bullets

Oh yea like conceptually it would make sense for their dps spec to basically set up a “denial” zone where they’re at their most dangerous

Buuuut, getting that to work in game without them being insanely broken in some fights but entirely useless in others (like mythic+) would be a nightmare

That’s really the only reason I thought about making them a more immobile class but not entirely stuck in one place with the moving turrets with reduced damage

Still definitely be stronger while they’re not moving, but they should have some way to still dps properly on the move

oh god i would LOVE to do three different time gated treadmills on a tinkerer, man that would make this game so immersive. Cant wait to see all the epic diaper pants for my mechagnome tinkerer.

Holy cow this game needs help

i think it’s high time we get an Enchanter class

they could enchant objects around them to form a shield

they could enchant party members’ armor to provide brief heals

I agree “Tinker” is a stupid name.
I’d much prefer “‘Mechanic,” or “Technician”

But “Tinker” is what they were called in Warcraft 3.

That would be like calling shaman “Elementalist” or calling Death Knight “Necromancer”

Warcraft is HEAVILY stylized.

Healer CD totally has to be some kind of Tesla coil they slam down that just zaps allies healing them (and giving a minor speed boost after being zapped)

I just think that would be funny

I wanted a totally unique healer cooldown.
How about this, a Nanite field that, instead of healing, gives every player in the field a massive amount of LEECH stat.

interesting. i feel like incentivizing people to hold dps cds for a high incoming damage window is probably a weird move though

You okay bro?

I don’t think this has anything to do with a Tinker class

But Tinkers should be the “Weird” class.

Technology in WoW isnt a “stable” part of the universe like Magic, or the Light.

Technology is ramshackle, it’s silly and slap dashed.

A Paladin always have faith in the light to give him strength, but If I’m a Tinker Tank, and my mech suit fails. I better hit the ejector seat, and pray the healer can keep me alive despite being a weak, squishy, intellect gear wearing tinker.

I imagine; when in the mech suit, the Tinkers intellect should directly contribute to bonus armor to make them an effective tank.

That could/would be a very interesting CD for organized group

Less for random

and it would range from very strong (burn phases) to very weak (boss immune with high aoe raid damage) depending on the fight

I want a sword and board class like the old gladiator warrior.
That was so fun while it lasted.
Most games do not have this even though it was widely used in history.

You’re a cow man with moose antlers.

Dude there are almost no RPGs that have a “Mechanic” class. And the ones that do never do it justice.
