New targeting issue with healing addon?

i use Healbot, always have, and it has always worked just fine for me. however, in the past week, when i target someone to heal them in Healbot, it doesn’t change my actual target, if that makes sense? say i am DPSing mobs, see someone’s low, click their bar in Healbot to heal them, but my target remains the mobs i was DPSing instead of changing to the player i healed. i can absolutely understand how some people would love this, but i hate it. especially since now, if in a raid (i have raid frames turned off, since i use a healing addon), unless the player is within range, even if i click their name/bar in the healing addon, i can’t target them or inspect them, let alone summon them; i have to wait until they are close by and click on their character in-game.

i can’t figure out if this is a UI (whether Blizz or ElvUI) or a Healbot issue. i keep going through settings, but i don’t even know what i’m looking for, especially since i don’t think this was ever an option i originally opted into or out of at any point.

any help would be great!! (:

It’s been like that for me forever (is the default way I believe) and is by far the superior way (in my very strong opinion)… but I do understand your concern. What I do have is a click that is set to target, as your healbot commands don’t all need to be heal specific (for me alt left click is target player).
If you want all of your heals to also cause you to target the player this can either be set up as a macro within healbot (so instead of heal, the action is target and heal) or there is an option in healbot for this that was adjusted on the latest update. Can’t help you with that last one tho sorry.

Switching targets probably isn’t the default as that kind of defeats the purpose. If the add-on was recently updated, it may have reset some defaults. The other thing could be it is broken and needs an update.

If I use something like healbot or vuhdo, it’s because I want to heal targets without selecting them. Otherwise the default UI or any raid frames works just as well.

If this changed in a reset, it is something that Blizzard made an ElvUI or a Healbot issue. You should report the change to the addon maker so they can investigate.

thank you so much, this helped me find the issue!! :heart: i guess the most recent update with Healbot reset some defaults, including all of my spells being auto-target. just clicked that back on for all spells, and now it’s back to normal, hooray!
