I am hoping for a change at least wanted to have my voice heard, and wonder if I’m alone in this - the new talent tree is visually sleek, but the character art could be jarring if it doesnt fit my character personally. For example if Im seeing artwork for a gnome on my troll mages arcane talent tree that it seems like a weird mismatch. Likewise if I have a gnome fire mage I wouldn’t like to see a blood elf, this may seem like a minor inconvenience that doesn’t affect others
but Im confused about the style choice, why not just have a more general or abstract representation of the theme of the spec? It would allow for new and exciting art.

Thank you for noticing and responding, this appears in Dragonflight Alpha so far that I have seen - and if thats the case only one race for every spec will have the artwork actually reflect the toon they are playing. I’d really like to hear from others - I’m sure I could just move on, play the game and get used to it but figured I’d at least try to speak my mind if I’d prefer a different look.
you probably are. cause its an artwork it doesnt affect your play at all. dont open talent if it bother you that much
Honestly, I think they should just update the old classic ones. It’ll be a nice throw back, and they still weirdly fit perfectly. I don’t know why, but the abandoned Windmill with the green tones fits Aff perfectly.
With that said, I don’t mind the alpha art. I’m fine with seeing a sketch of a Gnome on my Horde Mage, it doesn’t throw me off, personally. But I can appreciate why you don’t like it.
If they want to go down the route of characters, they should go for lore characters, not random NPCs.
On the alpha it does have a warning that it’s alpha art though, albeit it I don’t actually expect them to change it without specific complaints related to it.

I’m 100% with you on the old abandoned windmill - I know change is good but I yearn for artwork like that instead of the aforementioned - I respect your opinion and your nuanced disagreement sits with me well, If they do keep this artwork I think I could be okay with it. Thanks Ixenn!
I would just be happy if the finally released the alpha builds for the remaining four classes. We are coming up on 1 month into alpha and you still can’t play those classes. I bet they are going to be a wreck going into beta and probably the live build.
