We all know Blizz at this point likes to release some stuff in their store to hint at an upcoming expansion, whether it’s mounts, pets, or transmog set.
This almost confirms we’ll be getting something close to it. Yes I know, we had that in BfA. However, BfA was mainly Horde vs Alliance than it become fishmen and trash lands, then old gods. BfA was a rollercoaster of almost everything happening all at once.
With that said here are some things I hope to see in the upcoming expansion if this is happening:
A pirate ship system: players control their own pirate ship and can have a group or raid to be on the same ship. This system can work for PvP no matter what faction you are on horde and alliance can work together on the same ship and fight other groups. I would like to also see pirate ship battles with world bosses or rares in the sea while also exploring islands. Kind of like sea of thieves.
Old world revamp. Yes this needs to happen. Leveling 10-60 kinda sucks now for new players, it’s time we fix it for them. Also, make sure you have the options not only just to go back to catas timeline but also vanillas.
Last but not least, Nagas and Orges for race? Nagas Azshara was teased to return and Orges? Well who doesn’t want to be a Orge Pirate?
That’s what I hope to see but won’t be mad if we don’t get it. What are some of the things you wish to see if this is an upcoming expansion?
Usually mounts in the latter half of an expansion, and it doesn’t always tease anything major about an expansion, they frequently just show off a model early.
Like the Sylverian Dreamer and Vulpine Familiar gave us Shadowlands models, but they didn’t really tease anything remotely close to Shadowlands unless you somehow interpret “a mage had a dream about it” as “they somehow saw into the realms of death when they slept,” which would be an incredible reach.
Were probably expecting an announcement this year or early 2024 at blizzcon. You surely don’t see them pushing out content this fast and then waiting for a new expansion for over a year do you?
You also gotta take a look at all the hints in 10.1 with the books players found in the forbidden reach. And also the pirate transmogs that have been in the trading post this for the past two months. I’m calling it, it’s a southseas expansion. They wont be doing a lot of hints if it isn’t.
It’s possible, given many people are predicting next expansion is going to world revamp, or other side of Azeroth (Avaloren). Personally rather it be South Seas and Kezan focused or an Underground expansion which I feel Blizzard is testing the waters with 10.1
Also store transmog should make its way to the Trading Post.
I mean, we’ve had two Burning Legion based expansions as well as Undead. BFA was a faction war based expansion (Like Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria), that had pirate themes in it.
Its way to early into DFs lifespan for an xpac announcement. I mean we are JUST getting 10.1, we still need 10.2 announced and a release roadmap before a new xpac would be announced.
There’s also an NPC way out behind the hostile Centaur camp in the northwest of Ohn’Ahran Plains (the place where the primal invasion event sometimes shows up) who is staring out at the sea and when you talk to him he mentions something about how he feels there’s something coming from out there or something (I forgot exactly what he says)
I think something pirate/ocean/Southseas themed is definitely either gonna be part of a large DF content update/zone/raid tier (perhaps something to do with the large but completely deserted island chain that is part of the Ohn’Ahran Plains Map?) or a part of the next expansion
Could also potentially be hinting at us getting a proper conclusion to the Neptulon/Vashj’Ir storyline from Cataclysm which would be very fitting considering the strong Elemental focus of the Dragonflight Expansion!
You do have a point but they’ve been pushing content out really fast. We also are expecting a Blizzcon by November this year and 10.2 in December probably or maybe earlier. We could get possibly get a .4 patch to push more story out and get a little longer expansion. But im expecting an expansion release in 2024 to keep it going.
There are ‘hints’, but that I think comes at the halfway mark. Right now I think it is mostly just a thing they came up with to sell.
When you see it pop up as the 6 month sub addition and stuff like that later on in the expansion, then I think you can make a case for it as it starts to share similarities.
