Howdy folks, I’m looking to replace my hard drive with a new SSD. I’m technology illiterate so please bear with me.
Can you please recommend an SSD. I mainly play wow
What do I need to know about using two drives at the same time? TY
TLDR:
If you don’t want to think about it…
I’d recommend getting Samsung. A popular brand that a lot of people use
You can get the 970 or 990 evo. Pro isn’t much more but you don’t need the pro nor can you make use of it fully. Recommend 1TB Minimum today’s gaming.
I recommend doing a fresh install of windows onto the SSD and wiping your old drive to use as storage. Unless you know how to wipe windows off the old drive, its quicker to save your data to an external drive and wiping it.
There are other options, such as Western Digital, Crucial, etc. Your motherboard is limited to PCIE 3.0 so the new drives today will be limited to that.
Below is the motherboard specification.

If you go the fresh install route you can always buy a Windows key from Gamer’s Outlet for under $10 and download the installer to a USB drive. I wonder if mentioning this is against the TOS now that Microsoft owns Blizzard. I guess we’ll see.
So basically the brand doesn’t make a ton of difference, past a certain point. A Crucial will be as good as a Western Digital.
Samsung is the best quality. Depending on what you want to spend, go with it or a Crucial. Stay away from no name or not very rated brands.
Installation is easy, and there’s ways to clone your hard drive if you research online.
Good luck, have fun,
