New Spellbook is blocking action bar

Yo dudes! Your new spell book blocks almost the entire screen, including action bars. What’s up with that?

There was absolutely nothing, nothing at all wrong with the old spellbook. This “update” made it so much harder to use.

I appreciate the search functionality but that did not require an entire overhaul of the spellbook ui.

The “small” version of the book is still massive and gets in the way as well.

its all UI scale setting. im still finding things in the UI that need tweeking even today.

BlizzMove, DeModal

You can thank me later.

When you click-to-drag a spell, your action bars come to the forefront over the spell book, so you can still place spells pretty easily.

I agree though that the new spellbook takes up too much screen real-estate. I don’t see a need for it to be as big as it is.

Thanks for the tip, but I haven’t seen it do that. Definitely need to double check.

I absolutely hate the new spellbook. The sizing on the abilities and everyone just jamed in together with tiny fonts. it’s way too big and is closing other windows.

It’s just horrible.

/shrug worked for me… the I have three horizontal actions bars at the bottom of the screen and I can’t see the top-most bar when the book is open, but when I started to drag a spell, all the bars (3 bottom and 2 on right-side) jumped to the forefront. I’m using the Blizzard UI with no Bartender4 or MoveAnything type addons.

Ah. I usually play on my laptop, so the top 2 and half the bottom action bars are obscured. I’ll have to check again. Thanks for the tip.

Hoping for a “Classic Spellbook” addon soon. While I don’t have the issue with overlapping on my screen, it new spellbook UI takes up way too much space.

Though, I’ll probably just end up going back to ElvUI instead trying to piecemeal things.

Yeah definitely works on my desktop…

Top row of bottom bars is obscured…

Top row becomes visible as soon as I start dragging a spell…

Just tried it on my desktop as well and yup, you’re right, once you start dragging, the icons come to the fore.

Might be because I hadn’t noticed when I was dragging, because I had to drag to the side bars for not being able to see the lower bars at all.

Still stupid annoying though. I still believe whoever designed the UIs recently should be forced to do everything on a 12 " laptop for the next two years.
Thanks again!

If I remember right, the old spellbook used to have its own window. Now, the spellbook is sharing with the talents. I assume that’s the reason why it’s oversized.

Yeah this is really the only issue I’m having with this patch. The spell book is massive, not moveable, shared with the talent tab so some addons like weak auras will close while you look at your spells, and at least for me the colors they chose for it make it hard to see which spells are glowing because they’re not on your bars. Would’ve liked it the way it already was honestly.

So close it… I mean really? Engage brain before whining.

Am I crazy or didn’t the character, dressing room, spell book and basically all pop-ups function as something you could move around on your screen?
I vaguely remember being able to adjust the size by grabbing the corner with cursor too.

Is there a reason why this can’t just be how they work?

IMO The new spell book is another one of the many downgrades in UI that came with this patch. I would have preferred the spell book to be smaller than it had been, certainly not larger.

I’ll check it out. Thanks.
