I’m also morally opposed to microtransactions.
I’m a meat lover. I love bacon and sausage and steaks and barbecue ribs and all the goodness that meat can be.
I’m also morally opposed to killing animals for meat or any other reason.
Morals don’t mean much under Capitalism. In modern America, microtransactions are affordable and give you cool stuff. In today’s global economy, meat is delicious and the animal is already dead when you find the meat in the store, so why not buy it?
Taking a moral stance against capitalism is understandable. In fact, I don’t think I can respect anyone who isn’t morally outraged by some aspect of it. But it is a system so pervasive and dominant that attempting to stand against the tide achieves nothing beyond situational self-harm.
The system has been designed to reduce all of us to nothing but amoral consumers, and try as you might - that’s a role you can’t escape without a major revolution taking place.
