thank you in advance postimg[dot]cc[backslash]B8PPyB3S

1. your gpu doesnt matter as much as you think Wow is all about CPU.
2. You should give us your Full spec so we could Give you a Guess

  • Ignore first 2 didnt see the image. So yeah ryzen 5 5500 lets say if you do Raiding even with everything tuned down there will be a few boss you will have Issue like broodtwister.
  • But regular bg/dungeon/arena ect…It should be smooth above 60fps for sure

ryzen 5 5500, 16gb ram b550 motherboard, rtx 4060. iive already got more ram coming in the next few days to upgrade to 32gb. i think next ill buy a power 850w power supply to start getting upgradees over time. i dont see much lag unless im in a main city then fps drops to around 30 when facing all the name plates.

raiding this tier is more intense if you get 30fps @town,on Broodtwister you will get 1fps its sad. before more ram or powersupply i would check for a better CPU like i said if your goal is WOW mainly for gaming Cpu is more important than GPU.

You must also be on DDR4 i would wait before buying ram instead save money swap motherboard go on DDR5 they can reach 7k MHz

i had a ryzen 9 5900x switched to a intel i7 13700k becuase it was cheap and the change was massive for raiding i dont even lag anymore (btw i have a Amd 6800XT)

I spend like 1.4k Cad to get my motherboard/fan/aio/ram 32gb 7000/Case you can probably get better price with black friday coming

Ryzen 5500 is your NEW system? If you’re buying a new system today I would not buy am4. Id buy Am5 and a 7800x3D build. HOWEVER I do understand times are tough atm and $$ doesnt grow on trees. So if you absolutely must be on Am4 due to budget reasons? 5800X3D is what you want. It will be a night and day Upgrade from a ryzen 5 5500. Not just in WoW in ANY game. MMOs like WoW LOVES x3D processors due to the Large game cache on them and you will too because you save $$ don’t need super fast RAM for them.

can I upgrade to a newer cpu and processor with the 650w and current ram? like how do I go about upgrading 1 piece at a time? or is that not possible

I assume we are talking 1080p monitor? You should handle 60 FPS+ in most solo outdoor content on the highest (non raytracing) settings. Raids & world bosses will fluctuate with that CPU but can be offset with things like adaptive sync and/or WoW graphic settings. Dungeon performance would be in-between.

you can look up what CPUs the Asus mobo supports on their web site as well as the BIOS version it needs for that support

thank you for this.

Just be glad you’re on am4. If you’ve never installed a CPU before it can be a bit daunting it may be good to reach out to someone who’s done it before for help.

The good thing about am4 is if you slightly bend a pin on the CPU you can easily bend it back with tweezers. It’s a PGA CPU. Am5 is LGA and that socket is a nightmare if you’ve bend a pin :skull:

Negatory good buddy the only CPU that would be an upgrade for you that you can move to is 5800X3D. Don’t get me wrong though that CPU for you would be a night and day difference so it’s definitely an upgrade. It’s also topping the charts and gaming and hanging in there with the best modern cpus. It’s what I call a 7-year chip meaning if you moved to it it would last you the next 7 years easy

Beyond that you’re at the end of the railroad tracks. AM4 it’s at the end of its lifespan. So beyond the 5800x3D the only way you can upgrade a CPU is changing the entire motherboard and RAM too because am5 is ddr5

5800X3D is no longer manufactured, and the 5700X3D is +$100 cheaper, and performs fairly close, and runs cooler. Friend of mine recently went from a 5900X to a 5700X3D and it was a huge performance increase for him in WoW. (He’s using a 4090, so he’s not GPU-bound by any means.)

If you can get a 5800X3D for a reasonable price, still, you can grab it, since it’s the zenith of AM4. However, there’s not much performance left on the table to take the slightly lower model. Even the 5600X3D from Micro Center is still quite good, if someone opts for it, but it’s unobtainium for a lot of people.

5500 is a great budget AM4 chip, but the X3D chips are just way too damn good in this game, and in general, really. All of the big benching YouTube channels still run the 5700X3D, or the 5800X3D even against the newest chips because they hold their own in capability even now.

I am going to upgrade. the store I bought from is going to take my mobo and cpu + ram for a discount from ryzen7 7700x + b650m-a + 32gb vengence ram ddr5 @5000mhz. for an extra $350. is that new upgrade going to make a big difference in performance? I can go and get it installed tomorrow
memoryexpress. [dot] com/Products/BDL_MM00004382 would be this exact package and id trade my current set up and pay an extra $350. their labor cost is also included inthat price which is like 100. I honestly dont know how to do the software stuff and dont have the patience. they insure their work as well and give me a 30 day warranty. so its worth the $100 as I have been an apple user for a decade.

Do not get the 7700x get the 7800x3D.

In other games the difference will not be so big between the two because you are GPU Limited however in World of Warcraft the difference will be night and day

The CPU used in this video is the 7950x3d the 7800x3d would be the exact same. If not slightly better

Also on the 7700x that Ram is going to be way too slow for gaming on the regular CPUs you need the fastest Ram possible on am5. However with the x3d CPUs Ram speed really doesn’t matter that much because of the huge game cache

unfortunately I am not wanting to spend just under 1k cad for the 7800x3d. and it was a great deal for the combo pack. ive updated it and my performance is a night and day difference. its actually crazy. plus I have the am5 chip mobo now so in the future I can upgrade to a flagship processor when I upgrade the gpu in the future. thank you for all of your help it pushed me to upgrade to this just affter owning a gaming pc for 1 week

is there a way for you to find a 7600x3d?

You really didn’t need to upgrade the platform man you just should have selected a 5700x3d if you wanted am4.

However the good news is since you are on am5 once the 9800x3D comes out and has been out for a while you will be able to get that for a very reasonable price so you can always just drop in that CPU at that point

Based on your last response that’s probably the best plan is to just do that

I wanted to get to am5, so I could have all the new tech for future upgrades. I know I could have just got the best am4 processor, but that is limiting for future upgrades as its end of life cycle and parts harder and hard to find as you know. now I am able to get a ryzen 9000 in the future when I upgrade to a new gpu.

but for now its an absolute insane upgrade. my fps does not drop. I have a good aio so my processor isnt running hot at all and staying around 40C during peak gaming. its fast and performing as I thought it would in my head while planning it all out. I am happy. I dont see how things could get any better in wow. my fps is maxed out to my 1440 QHD monitor. my fps doesnt drop in cities or in raids. I thought there would be a problem with the 5000mhz ram as you said but no its running perfect and this ram is recommended by MSI for this motherboard. eventually im going to get 6000 cl32 though so I can get argb to match my set up. tahnk you very much for your help

hey its bbldrizzy, i couldnt reply because you didnt reply back to the thread. so i built the first pc that we had discussed and i had zero issues with it. it did exactly what i expected it to do, but shortly after the 9800x3d launched, so i ordered that on backorder (still waiting for it to arrive) but all the other components have arrived and i am testing them all out currently. but i cant wait for the 9800x3d to arrive like you suggested with the 3d v cache.
