New Server Cluster - Old Moderation System

tl;dr I give WoW extra money, WoW lets me have fun.

I want a server cluster without the in-game report system and automated one-click report features. I’m happy to pay extra for it. If someone has a problem with hateful content in the game, threats, or true harassment then they can put in a MANUAL ticket and report it. It will need to be reviewed in the same way the in-game report system appeals are reviewed. It won’t add workload. It will probably reduce workload, unless you get activist players who decide to come in and screenshot every curse word they see and tattle.

No need for a social contract, just go back to the old rules. If your words are used to harass or harm and show a pattern of abuse toward a person, you’re getting suspended. If you stalk, circumvent game mechanics to bother someone who doesn’t want to talk to you, or spread hateful messages or propaganda, you’re getting suspended.

Otherwise, let things go. People cursing isn’t a big deal. The language filter will handle it for anyone who doesn’t want to see the words. Let people be rude. If someone can only communicate in insults, then that’s their communication. That says more about them than it says about me. Now, if they start WHISPERING people after instanced combat to further the abuse… I would put in a ticket for that. That’s HARASSMENT and it’s allowed per the current system. I don’t want it to be allowed any longer and I don’t think it should be allowed on a system where speech is mostly unlimited.

Again, I will pay extra for this. Let people be stupid. Let them shout political slogans if they want. I don’t care that they use bad words, as long as those words are used in isolation and aren’t paired with a threat or incitement of violence or hate against a group.

Let all the currently banned accounts with ONLY CHAT VIOLATIONS have access to this cluster, and only this one. The exploiting, cheating, and bot accounts shouldn’t be given access. If it’s chat only, let them come back and play.

GMs would have to be in game 24/7. So yeah, it would add workload.

… the social contract is the “old rules.” We’ve been over this multiple times, including with CS. The social contract is one set of suggestions and the other half is the CoC we’ve had for ages.

The CoC from day one has not allowed profanity or masked language. You know, those rules you said you wanted?

This is a game for everyone, not your personal :ice_cube: :peach: space.

No, they wouldn’t have to be there 24/7. They can handle the ticket when they get around to it. No one is going to be irreparably harmed in the time it takes them to get to the ticket.

You do realize, you can do that now without any fear of being actioned. Friends and Discord are great.

As for you wanting to be able to say anything without any repercussions, do you do that in public in the real world? Either way, grow up, be an adult.

In order to to do this:

Which are the current rules… yes. They would.

How so? Is there a law I’m not aware of that requires this? Is this a Blizzard policy? An Activision policy?

You want the rules to be enforced. If there’s no report system for such things, then someone needs to do it. You want to go back to the “old ways.” You do realize GMs were in the game doing this in the “old days,” right? Or were you not here in Vanilla?

Yes, almost everyone I play with has sheltered in Discord and no longer talks in game. It’s a great place to be that protects you from people who hate you and want to see you banned from the environment because they hate themselves and can’t stand seeing anyone else happy.

Yes, I do. Quite regularly, in fact. I say things in the real world constantly that would get me banned in the game.

Have them put in a ticket. The person reviewing the ticket will get around to it and investigate. If it’s good enough for ban appeals, it’s good enough for banning.

Honest 100%

I came in only because I was curious how long the wall of text would be.

I am only posting to let you, OP, know. I am very let down that this is not much longer.

Triple what you posted. Hard Triple.

Deargodinheaven the drama.

Look, I’m on MG, WrA, Stormrage and Area 52. I talk in trade chats. I watch friends talk in trade chat. Across all these four servers, know how many of us have been warned, sanctioned or squelched?

None. Nada.

This perpetual lie that everyone is out to get you is nonsensical.

What do you think the right click, report feature is???

To total strangers?
If so, see the end of my previous post.

yes…?

Also, the things people get in trouble for in WoW are mostly things they say to FRIENDS that someone not involved in the conversation happens to see because the old text based systems send every chat sent to some obscene number of people who don’t need to see the text at all.

They’re talking to their friends. WoW is what is making it global.

Survivorship bias. Everyone who isn’t in compliance is long gone.

What are you guys so afraid of, anyway? You don’t have anything to do with this server, you don’t need to BE on this server (I’d rather you not be). Why do you hate the idea of me being around people I want to be around?

I put up a tl;dr just for you.

Then there is no issue with the current system, as you’re talking to friends in guild chat and party chat and whispers.

If you’re incapable of respecting anyone else around you, that’s a you problem.

Anecdotal evidence. Yours is just ridiculous hyperbole.

No one is afraid of anything. You’re just being ridiculous and don’t comprehend how social aspects are approached in video games.

Other people were smart enough to roll their eyes and move on from this nonsense. I’m not entertaining this further.

  1. You want the “old rules.” These are the old rules.
  2. You want people to put in tickets. That’s what the report feature does.
  3. You want to allow people to be toxic just for the sake of being toxic. That’s not how corporations allow their social gaming aspects to work.

Go make your own video game and let everyone have their :ice_cube: :peach: this one ain’t it for you, chief.

First and foremost.

thank you. Very generous.

But I said longer. like 3 times longer.

Keep the tl;dr brief tho.

I ask for my own space that doesn’t bother you and you rush in and hate on me for it. I don’t think I’m the ridiculous one here. Sounds like you want control over everyone else, and the idea that people might form their own cluster and be happy upsets you because they’re not doing what YOU want them to do.

Probably for the best… it’ll be better for both of us. You can’t tolerate disagreement without rushing in to bash it at every instance, and I want to be able to talk to others without being flooded with massive articles about how I’m “wrong” for having a different opinion.

If you feel that you need a safe space to be hateful, then perhaps some self reflection is in order.

I need a safe space to be myself.

I’m not a hateful person. I am treated like I am a hateful person because I want to talk to my friends in a way that is considered socially unacceptable by a small group of people who have a lot of power in WoW’s offices.

I feel strongly discriminated against and unwelcome by the way that I’m treated when folks sit in global channels waiting to report anyone who uses a curse word or says something they don’t like. It’s not fair. It’s not kind. It feels more like being stalked and harassed than anything else.

I wish I could show you have it feels to have a different worldview, because it would make a lot more sense. Unfortunately, empathy for my situation (and many others’ situations) is lacking and I can’t seem to explain it in a way that leads to any kind of meaningful dialog.

If I don’t want massive moderation of everything in compliance with certain worldview, then I get written off as “hateful” and my opinion is discarded.

Let me pay money to get out of this misery.

Then go to Discord and act like a tool there. Problem solved.

This is the real, underlying, problem. It’s not that I’m hateful. It’s that the folks who are in power over the game currently are hateful against me and they want me exiled off the platform because I don’t agree with their worldview.

That’s not OK. It’s not an OK way to treat people. It’s not a healthy way to run a game.

I wish I could move my geographical location and be moderated by the Brazil team or the EU team.

From what I’ve seen here, nothing of value is being lost in game if you can’t speak, I can assure you.
