combine the runes, so you could have rune of the fallen crusader of the apocalypse, which would give the 18% strength healing, along with the ghoul debuffs that would have to be buffed excessively to be noticeable, because they’d be getting applied by the ghoul.
The next combo could be Rune of unending thirst and sanguination which could give leech in addition to buffed stats from the original unending thrist and 15% strength and some crit.
The third could be rune of spell warding and the stone skin gargoyle. 14% strength 14% armor and a buffed spell warding.
The fourth would be rune of razorice which would be a buffed version of this coupled with 18% strength and some crit.
Basically with this you’d have unholy take the first one for sure with the option to use the gargoyle one in pvp, then blood would take the sanguination one for the unending thirst haste buffs from killing mobs in M+, or if you’re pushing on blood and need more defense you could take gargoyle. Maybe even buff the unending thirst and sanguination one to 18% strength so it forces blood to choose that one over fallen crusader of the apocalypse and/or razorice.
Combining runeforges will just bring nerfs to either the class or runeforges.
Runeforges shouldnt be looked at as anything other than a free weapon enchant.

it’s just fallen crusader though…
So what? It’s an enchant. If there was no runeforging you would be going the same enchant as every other class.
It’s a free enchant. People really need to stop complaining about runeforging.

I feel like there should be more runeforges not fewer by combining them, and they should have more variability/specific uses for runeforges in different directions not combine them so they are more cookie cutter. I think there should also be more utility runeforges for casual/farming content that have no application to raids/mythic plus.
Honestly, I feel like they already did do this to some extent with Rune of Unending Thirst. It’s absolutely garbage in any endgame content, but I wonder if using two of it as Frost would stack the passive movespeed buff. Would be nice for old content farming.
Aside from a speed increase or something akin to that, I don’t see what else they could do that would create enough benefit for niche/outdated content farms without it also creating a benefit in the current endgame, but I dunno.
Would be nice to see a few new rune forges every expansion or two in much the same way that we see a new enchantments every expansion, since they’re designed to fill the same purpose.
I’d rather just not have to go back to Acherus to put on a runeforge. That’s really my gripe. Nothing’s fun about putting Fallen Crusader on my weapon and going back to Legion on repeat.
We can already teleport back to the spot we were. Just, you know, let us enchant it anywhere and avoid the two outdated loading screen. Seems fair. “Class fantasy” is a jest and no boomer out there is really getting “engaging excitement” from running back to Acherus for two seconds to click a button for a minor cast and taking two loading screens to the face.
On topic though: Fallen Crusader has reigned as Lord Commander since WOTLK and they will never change it dominating every other rune beyond niche circumstances or you play Frost DW. I’ve lost 100% faith in that ever shifting. WOTLK was a long time ago, you all. We’re as dead as our characters in the water.
Id actually love to see a new yak/bronto style mount that has a runeforge on it. I really like the special mounts that have the extra functionality.
Regards to the OP, I don’t want to see runeforges combined. I like runeforge diversity, I just wish there was more incentive to use anything other than FC. A MS/execute runeforge would be awesome for PVP.

I agree.
But, sadly, I doubt there’s going to be much focus on it. I find creativity in these forums more than whoever is designing the class, generally speaking. The fact that Fallen Crusader has ran this long and been left as a “staple” no brainer option just is boring. Plain and simple. But it works as intended.
I just wish rune of the apocalypse only applied a healing reduction instead of the rng 4 debuffs.
The debuffs are all good but so random and dks could really use the defacto MS in pvp.

Apocalyse would be good if it was you and your ghouls attacks.

how about if they did something completely different
nerfed all the runes, but allowed you to have 5 or 6 of them, all of them at the same time. individual proc chances. then you have empower rune weapon that activates them all for the duration, at a minimum of 100% effectiveness, more if the numbers don’t add up to it being a significant DPS cd.
Empower Rune Weapon forcing a proc when pressed would be neat for the runes that are procs.

Anyone remember rune of cinderglacier?
I wish it would come back. It would add some fun burst opportunities for pvp.
Yes. It’s proc rate was pretty low and waiting to line up like 3 procs was pretty bad.
Barely used and worse than RI.
