Saurfang grabs the rogue after he clearly vanished and breaks his neck.
Stealth is clearly bugged.
Beyond that, awesome cinematic. I’m looking forward to this becoming a 3rd faction catalyst rather than just MOP 2.0.

Is it honestly so hard to believe people like a fictional character? The vilification is getting old and actually pretty silly.
That was such an awesome cinematic! I loved the beautifully recreated Nagrand, with musical callbacks and an acknowledgement of its crumbling state. Thrall and Saurfang had GREAT dialogue too. “I didn’t ask,” I loved that. And the fight scene was mega-cool!! My skin was tingling throughout. So glad to hear Metzen as Thrall again. Can’t wait to see where it goes from here! : )
That definitely shaped him as a person but Thrall spent all his formative years, the ones that shaped his morals, way of thinking and sense of honor (ie. his childhood) amongst and only influenced by humans.
Thrall had established his sense of honor and his morals long before he met Drek’thar. Hell his first real meeting with free orcs was with Grom’s lot and they tried to get him to murder a human child to prove he wasn’t a human sympathiser. Grom approved of his refusal but it wasn’t any influence from any orcs that caused Thrall to not carry out the murder, even when he felt he might get killed by refusing.
It feels a little weird that a neck-snap is capable of even killing Forsaken tbh. It’s not like they can die from suffocation or heart failure, and I imagine since they’re reanimated by magic they don’t really need their spinal cord to function like they did when they were alive.
Blizz has always been really inconsistent regarding Forsaken durability though, sometimes they can survive dismemberment and other times they die from getting slammed into stuff ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Very pretty CGI as normal. Art game’s on point.
That said, it’s a complete eye roller that we’re doing MOP 2.0.
“fOrSakEn aRe EvIl AcRoSs tHe BoArD aNd ShOuLd NeVeR of BeEn HoRdE!!! GET SYLVANAS OUT OF THERE!!! BuT ItS OkAy BeCaUsE CaLiA MeNeThIl WiLl ReDeEm ThE FoRSakEn :D!!!”
Very compelling message.
Why were the assassins after Thrall?
I like to imagine they weren’t, and that Saurfang was just so embarrassed about being trailed he lied about it :v
As poetically funny as this would be, it doesn’t explain why the assassins didn’t dispatch Saurfang earlier when he was on his own if indeed they were tracking him.
So I am inclined to believe him. Also, he’s an orc. That grants him super powers of detection by Blizz.
Well, I’m glad to have finally seen Thrall in cinematic glory.
So… the Dark Portal is reconnected to Outland then? I mean I always kinda assumed but we never knew.
Now that the folks on the WrA forum have pointed it out, it does kinda bother me that Thrall’s first course of action after an assassination attempt is to theatrically grab his axe and flex heroically with it, instead of checking on his not far away wife and children.
Why were the assassins after Thrall?
I’m willing to guess one of three reasons:
1: The narrative is trying to paint Fidel Castro, complete with his political assassinations to make sure anyone that could challenge him for power doesn’t get the chance.
2: Saurfang is embarrassed that he got tracked and that assassins were hunting him in particular. Thrall was just a secondary target because they knew he’d spring to Saurfang’s defense.
3: Someone put them up as bait and sent them to their deaths to lure Saurfang and Thrall together and partake in whatever nine dimensional chess strategy that’s apparently going on in the background. This one makes a little bit of sense to me, even if I doubt they thought that far ahead. Why would an assassin engage their target when they’re not alone? When they’re awake, alert and readily capable of defending themselves? Whoever was their handler didn’t send their A players, they sent rookies to a meat grinder.
who are 3 times their size with huge bulging muscles, in melee combat.
Those muscles are very distracting.
But God, not only was Saurfang’s “I followed them” extremely corny, but how the hell was he even able to track Rogues stalking Thrall, did he just stumble upon them by accident, racially profile them, and decide that he should just lurk around behind them?
Most likely they had never been to Nagrand, and since neither they nor Saurfang knew where Thrall was they just kept asking for directions.
Why were the assassins after Thrall?
It’s really a simple answer. To erase the “Honor Horde” Sylvanas has to assassinate the one who started it. Even if he is retired, he represents the ideals which she is actively trying to destroy. If he should ever change his mind and come back to reclaim the Horde, that would also be very bad for her. So assassinating him is not a bad idea. Another thing she could do is have her assassins retrieve the body so they could blame it on the Alliance to continue fueling support for the war amongst the populace.
It feels a little weird that a neck-snap is capable of even killing Forsaken tbh.
They’ve played Sekiro.
5 hours later they’re gonna get up and dust themselves off.
Anyone else think the face brand/tattoo on the assassin looks like the Cult of the Damned cultist face markings?
Idk but I am wondering if the “V” was intentional or was just supposed to be skin cracking. Why would Saurfang need to move the mask to look further at the eyes, I mean it’s pretty obvious they were undead. Unless the art team just wanted to show off undead features.
The cut, or the purple discoloration under their eyes?
I didn’t think the cut was all that significant. You try and melee two Orcs, and you’re not going to come out of it without a scratch. I didn’t even think Saurfang was looking for anything particular on their face, just him being like “See, they’re Forsaken” to Thrall.
honestly speaking…
the cinematic is quite disappointing…
the assassinate on Thrall should be a success…
Thrall death will have invoke a stronger and powerful reaction from Saurfang…
instead of this; ‘lead/save Horde’…
and introduce Thrall’s kid…as future character…
