New Ring is terrible

He said they wanted everyone in the game to go for it. Relevant to someone with a 421 ring on means it has to be better in some aspect.

Not going off sims with my comment. Talking to players, guildmates who are using the “good combo” and its certainly a DPS upgrade, even to mythic raid geared players. But that still leaves the question up in the air “are devs going to leave this or change it because it’s not what they envisioned?”

One way or the other I’d like them to say something…

I don’t really agree, which is fine. Viable and relevant, or other similar words used by them over time have rarely meant BiS.

They aren’t saying anything because people are still figuring it out. They aren’t going to nerf the combo that needs to be nerfed (and will be, almost guaranteed) because it’s getting people to use, talk about, and test the ring.

If they do nerf it, it will come with additional changes to other gems to rebalance it.

Simmed - Better.
Target Dummy - Better.
Content - Better.

The 424 version of the ring is doing better than Mythic Diurna’s…

It is indeed looking better. Getting it to 424 is super low effort as well…

Edit: If you are confused on what gems actually are performing for your class, check wowhead their guides are updated for the ring. Or join your spec’s discord/community, don’t let the forums be your only source of info like sheep.

They get an opinion because they pay to play this game.

No. You are treating it as a Major content feature. This is a .0X patch.

It is garbage with the exception of one combination of stones out of hundreds, very likely unintended. Going by norm and logic it is still garbage unless blizzard decides to let a bug stay.

hilarious a BIS in their mind that do less damage than a normal ring.

Ring would have been perfect with a primary stat, 2 secondary stats, and a slot for 1 primordial stone.

600 stam and 3 junk stones is awful.

i finally got my new ring upgraded with the right gems but a 415 with a socket beats it

Hello Valka

Nope

The broken combo of stones gives me some sick single target damage. Tried a couple other combos and they were hot garbage.

So blizzard is definitely not going to let the bug stay, so they’re going to have to buff this thing very heavily to make it viable.

Even one primary stat + 2 primordial stones might have worked.

That combo is giving a feedback loop that is having the gems proc off of eachother.

A lot of folks are saying it was a bug that got fixed on the PTR. I upgraded that combo to 424 and am doing very good ST damage with it. If they keep it the way it is I can’t wait to use it on tyrannical.

a 395 ring with socket is better than the new ring for me

Nerf the gem effects when S2 happens, but go ahead and put secondary stats (crit/haste/mastery) into them. This makes them tremendously more appealing. Right now, I don’t want to drop tertiary stats to use the ring. That’s like 5% haste drop right there, and I already hate how little haste is available. I’m not going to touch it on my evoker, because my evoker has Eranog and Diurna rings. I lose a tremendous amount of mastery (which sucks to lose on that class) or I lose the insane fire proc. Either way, its a dps loss for me on the evoker. If it had tertiary stats on it, it would actually feel like a decent upgrade across the board.

I’m assuming you mean secondary stats? Tertiary stats are Avoidance, Leech and Speed.

Every test I did showed a 415 ring with a socket outperformed the 424 ring. As a Mythic plus ring its total junk for a 424 ilvl piece.

And here’s what Wowhead updated too today:

The top performing combination of gems is Freezing Ice Stone Desirous Bloodstone Prophetic Twilight Stone.
However, this setup is only ~1% better than 415 item level rings with decent stats and does not provide any multitarget benefits, so take that into consideration.

The one good combo the rings had for some classes got nerfed into the dirt

What a joke
